Hi everyone! I am new to this forum and just read all the newcomer stuff and had a few questions. So I have my bmi and it is at 33.6 and was just curious how would I know what to cut my calorie intake too? Like is it ~15% less than what I normally intake a day?

The first thing you need to do is find out how many calories a day you are currently consuming. then knock off about 300 cals from that a day to start off with.

at what point should i stop cutting off 300 calories? i am only starting to record my calories today.

This is only my opinion granted. Others can throw what they do as well.

First, you don't want to throw yourself into total starvation mode. You are more than likely going to get off your diet... in fact call it a lifestyle change. I was eating about 2500 - 3000 calories a day. When I started this journey back in December, I cut out 400 calories a day. Then in January, I cut out another 200-300. I am currently eating around 1500-1800 calories a day. I conditioned myself to do this. There are days where I'll have a couple of sweets so I don't binge. Cravings are not ok to ignore, thats what will lead you to binging and getting off this journey.

There are definitely other methods out there. You'll here of women who went straight to 1000 calories a day and it worked for them.

Also, you want to look at an exercise routine. Include weight training to build muscles. The more muscle mass you have, the more calories you will burn doing nothing and the higher your metabolism will go up.

More questions for you... What are your stats (age, sex, weight, body fat%, etc) What are your current goals and what is your roadmap to achieve those goals?

First, you need to record how many calories you are currently eating. Which, was already suggested and you have already started doing so.

Personally, I would just record that for a week, just to get a good idea as to how much you are really eating, and then make your adjustments.

Herbapusher here. Do a little bit of research first before you start any package routines. Did I actually say that? Only thing you'll get is a bitter taste in your mouth if you try one and it doesn't work out for you. Some do, some don't. One of the most important parts of the weight loss is having someone, be it a friend, a coach, a mentor, whatever, that will help you through the rough spots and keep you accountable for what you do.

Eat smarter, not necessarily less, drink lots of water. lbs/2 = oz of water you need (most foods contain water that counts too) to run your body's engine effectively. Without that water your body engine might overheat.

Of course after you do some research (it's out there) and if you actually are interested in a 'program'... Look me up.

Get lost. Miracle cures don't exist.

Where, exactly, in my post did I say or even allude that I believe miracle cures work or even exist? I didn't. I'm not some retard hoping on here to copy and paste crap propaganda. Here, let me help you dissect my post since apparently you have taken it out of context.

Herbapusher here. "I take Herbalife and support it, even distribute it to the people I think it may help."
Do a little bit of research first before you start any package routines. "Some of these programs are utter B.S."
Only thing you'll get is a bitter taste in your mouth if you try one and it doesn't work out for you. "One day you'll tell people to Get lost and that Miracle cures don't exist."
One of the most important parts of the weight loss is having someone, be it a friend, a coach, a mentor, whatever, that will help you through the rough spots and keep you accountable for what you do. "Find someone you can trust to help you, it's easier."
Eat smarter, not necessarily less, drink lots of water. "You don't need a program, just stop living in a MacDonald's Drive Thru sipping on Dr Pepper."
Of course after you do some research (it's out there) and if you actually are interested in a 'program'... Look me up. "PM me, I'll help you find something, even if it's not through me."

I hope this helps you Gator. Have a wonderful day.

Here, let me help you dissect your own post, because you apparently don't know what denial is...

Herbapusher here. "I take Herbalife and support it, even distribute it to the people I think it may help."

The term "pusher" is slang for SALESMAN. So, by saying you are an "herbapusher" is saying that you are trying to sell people on the fact that Herbalife is the best way to lose weight.

Eat smarter, not necessarily less, drink lots of water. "You don't need a program, just stop living in a MacDonald's Drive Thru sipping on Dr Pepper."

It's spelled M-c-D-o-n-a-l-d-'s. There's no extra "A".

Of course after you do some research (it's out there) and if you actually are interested in a 'program'... Look me up. "PM me, I'll help you find something, even if it's not through me."

This is a public forum, in which spam is not allowed. The way that 100% of spammers try to get around this is to say something like "PM me", which is exactly what you did. You're trying to push Herbalife to the members of this board, you were immediately called out on it and now you are trying to backpeddle.

Have a wonderful day.

Nobody is going to buy your crappy herb supplement. Have a wonderful day.

You said do your research and contact me. I am a firm believer that exercise and cutting calories will work. People turn to crap like herbalife becuase they believe there are miracle cures... They want a quick fix when there's no such thing (this is what's so damn great about being American... quick fixes, get rich quick schemes, etc)

I'm not some retard hoping on here to copy and paste crap propaganda.
No, because you'd be banned in a second.

Herbapusher here.
bad start

"I take Herbalife and support it, even distribute it to the people I think it may help."
Here is where I stopped reading. Help who, the people who want to believe in these quick scams?

blah blah blah blah I am a retarded scammer blah blah blah

I don't eat there but I'm glad you felt the need to point out that I did not spell a fast food restaurant correctly, it's cute. Really. Would you have preferred that I used Herbalife distributor to Herbapusher. I know a bunch of people don't like them. Hell I can't stand half of them. All they want to do is sale a product. That's why they fail. Do I care if you buy from me? No. Do I care if you approve or disapprove of the company? Nope.
I understand the hostility against spammers and looking back, my first post could be interpreted as a spammer post, especially with my low post count. I give you that and accept the flak. Prefer me to not mention the evil, wicked, puppy kicking company Herbalife anymore? Fair enough.

I'm the guy that ridicules spammers... kicks them when they are down before they are banned.

Truce is called. Not mentioning herbadeath is fair. Welcome to the forum.

A) It's "sell" a product.
B) All you want to do is push the product as well, so you're no different. There was absolutely no other reason to say "Herbapusher here" as somewhat of an introduction.

They kick puppies too? Awful, that's just awful.

Sweet, nothing better than a little word pvp to get the blood pumping I say. I am curious as to why you think [EVIL CORPORATION] is so evil and where is this information from. I'll admit, the 'oh you can lose such and such' in 'oh so much time' by doing 'nothing at all' is utter crap.
Eating and drinking right while staying active works better than any program could ever hope, better than any synthetic drug could ever hope, especially long term. It's helped me with energy yes, I am now willing to walk the dog where as before, hell no. Started raining two days ago, I raced the dog home, made it, but was completely out of breath (1/4 mile). It's not going to get me in shape, I know this. Only I can do this.

Those pills are nothing more than glorified placebo pills. You're right, you eat right and exercise and you will lose weight. You don't need some pill that will give you cancer in 20 years because there is no longterm research done to accomplish this.

I sacrifice myself and class action lawsuit if something bad happens in the name of SCIENCE! huhbbqwut?
But you have to understand this works on fat rats before they explode! Look at the research!

You are right tho, nobody does know the long term effects of the products, only been around 29 years. Exercise has been around since the beginning of time up until the invention of the personal computer where it went almost extinct.
All I really know is that it has helped me help myself and I appreciate the products for that. Could I have done that without? Yes. Would I? Only time machine I have is in my head and even that one doesn't know. Eventually I may have. I'm not one of those zealots who preach the gospel of the company. It, like most other things in life, are a tool. You don't need it, but with the right tool, you get the job done faster... or screw the entire job up completely.

I think we're getting somewhere.

You bring up research. Where do they do their research. You always hear that it was done at some university. "A recent university study has show blah blah blah". Where though? Who did the research? How long was it conducted? Which prestigious university? The questions go on and on. Because the FDA doesn't regulate these companies or products, they don't have to research. They can claim they did the research and put very minimal efforts behind it. It's the fact of life, unfortunately... just like there is at least 5% of rat droppings in your box of lucky charms (source: Men's Fitness Magazine).

You're going to need a stronger argument than look up the research, my friend. If you can show show the concrete proof of actual research done (and not just their marketing spin), then I will lay off the Herbadeath.

You know what the sad part is? Food companies are actually ALLOWED to have a cetain percentage of animal shit in their food.

Then again there is concrete proof of actual research done that global warming is a reality even thought no body know what the temperature of the earth is actually supposed to be. There also is concrete proof of actual research that we are heading into a new ice age.
I will seek this proof tho it may take some time shifting through the propaganda, hate, spin, opinions... but my goal is not to "bring ye into thine holy light of the blessed evil corporation." Right now it is to make myself a better person and share my successes and failures with others.

There's just as much concrete scientific proof that Global Warming doesn't exist at all too, but that's beside the point.

I don't believe that we are saying that you, as an individual are evil. You came off as a spammer in your first post, we had a brief back and forth about it and that was that. Taking some sort of herbal supplement is what got you into shape. It was dedication, hardwork and exercise. Is there some sort of benefit to taking herbal supplements? Eh, nobody really knows. But, was it the reason you lost weight? No, absolutely not.

PS - I'm glad you didn't really kick your dog. Also, I obviously have no idea what you looked like "before", but you do look like you've lost weight. Congratulations.
