Hi, I'm Cathy and I would love to be 100lbs lighter.

I was told joining a forum and keeping a diary is helpful when trying to lose weight. So here I am.

I've always been a heavy person and i've struggle with my weight most of my life. At my highest I was about 280 lbs, but the summer after high school I lost about 65lbs and I was able to keep those pounds off. After that, I didn't lose much weight being too busy with school and work; diet and exercise took the backseat in my life. Today, I'm about 215lbs, but my weight fluctuates between 215 and 190.

I was comfortable with that; however, I guess i've hit my breaking point. I applied for a job being a youth corrections counselor and i've pass all test until it came to the dreaded physical test. I thought i could do it, but reality hit when I failed miserably.

Now, I'm on a mission. I have no set diet or work out plan. However, i've started walking in the morning and evenings for about an hour. I've cut down on my portion size, stopped skipping meals, and have cut all junk food out. In addition, i've began eating more fruits and vegetables.

It's been only week and i already feel like giving up. (But I'M NOT!)
Hopefully, this site brings the support I need.

Welcome, Cathy!
It sounds like you are taking the right steps towards weight loss. Increasing exercise and decreasing calories is what it's all about...especially cutting out the junk calories! You have started doing these things and you should start seeing some results on the scale...and that will motivate you to keep going! When I started my weight loss journey, that's what kept me motivated...seeing the numbers on that scale go downward every week. It's a great feeling!

Good luck and be sure to read the stickies on here to help answer any questions you may have. Keep us posted on your progress!
