Hi all!
A bit about me - I was in great shape in college but after graduating, a terrible break up and taking up beer as a hobby I've gained a LOT of weight in the last few years. I sort of just woke up one morning to look at myself and realized I was horrified at how much weight I'd gained. I actually have stretch marks on my stomach from having let myself get such a beer belly. Which by the way if anyone can recommend a way to get rid of those (or at least make them less noticeable) I'd be thrilled!
So I'm embarking on the weight loss journey! I've cut out alcohol from my diet entirely, although only for a week so haven't seen too much of a physical difference - I do notice I have a lot more energy and am sleeping better though! In terms of exercise I'm walking and using exercise dvds (thank god for Netflix!!) to start. I have a membership at the local YMCA but frankly am too embarrassed to exercise in public quite yet. Food isn't generally my challenge, at least not in terms of overeating. But since I live alone I have a REALLY difficult time making myself cook regularly so I tend to eat kind of bizarre combinations of food from the fridge. I.e. cottage cheese, beef jerky and a handful of pine nuts was lunch today. I know, I know...I need to eat more fruits and veggies
I've never posted on a forum like this but after reading through some of it I think this seems like a great place to be. So cheers to all and happy Saturday!
