Hi everyone,

Well I'm 21 years old and looking to lose some weight while i'm back home from university. My current weight is about 230 lbs and I my end goal is to drop down to 180 or so in about 4 months. I'm not sure if that's a reasonalbe target or not but might as well give it a shot. I enjoy playing icehockey and have played sports all my life. The main problem for me is eating habits. Although I dont get out as much to play sports as I would like, what I eat and when i eat is horrible. So what i'm looking for is support and advice on how to lose this weight and also keep it off once i reach my goal. Really looking forward to meeting new ppl and all your support so take care!

You're goal seems a little far fetched. I only bring it up b/c most don't manage their expectations well and when they set really high goals and miss them, they give up.

If that's not the case, have at it!

If not hitting 180 in a few months time will cause grief, reanalyze things.

A lot of people seem to think to themselves, "Ultimately, what's my ideal image in terms of physique." Invariably this puts them at a certain weight in their minds.

This is all fine and dandy.

Until they put a very strict time frame on obtaining said image/weight.

It's taken me years to adjust my body's fat and muscle stores and I'm still not at my ideal weight. I have long-term/ultimate goals and I have short term goals. I think that's important.

At best I'd shoot for 1% weight loss per week with the understanding that after a period of time of dieting, it will slow more than this.

Can you lose at a faster rate than this?

Sure.

Will it leave you with lifestyle changes, permanent fat loss and the look you're most likely going for?

Most likely not.

Welcome to the community and best to you. I highly suggest reading the stickies here on the forum.
