Well, I'm gonna do it.
Over the past ten years I've put on a lot of weight, succumbing to my inner hausfrau and going from a size 6 to a size 24. I don't let my size inhibit my life much - I'm German and come from a long line of food lovers.
But last Tuesday I went in for a fitting for my bridesmaid's dress (I'm the maid of honour at my daughter's wedding). The dress fit poorly, loosely at the bust, snug around the hips. I felt a little sad, knowing the dress won't look great on me for the wedding (it's a scant two months away). My daughter was awesome, though, watching me twirl in front of the mirror and saying I looked great. And you what? I know she was telling the truth. To her, I *do* look great.
Long story short, I decided this was it. I know my weight will create health problems down the road, although I currently feel fine.
I won't be slim for my daughter's wedding, but the dress won't be snug around my hips, either. Wish me luck!
