My name is Melissa, I wanted to say hello to everyone here. Thanks for all the support and I am hoping to offer support as well. I am 28, I am trying to lose weight I put on an unmetionable amount while I was pregnant with my one and only child. He is now three, and it is about time to get the weight off! I have lost about 20 or so in the last months, I am hoping to lose alot more than that about 50 I'd be better losing, I think. I was wondering if you could also give me advice on diet, I have cut out wheat products such as bread and such, just for a while because I have so much to lose and then maybe gradually introduce it in small amounts. I don't eat meat anymore as well, because it is so caloric and high in fat, I am thinking about slowly adding fish (maybe seafood), and then lean meats and red meat once in a while later on. I get protien from Veggie products that they have out from Morning star and such and also from dairy and protien bars. I work out only about 3 times a week as I am with my son, but we are getting on a schedule so I am going to include longer ( I usually do about 30 min a workout of cardio and ab work). Any suggestions and help I am appreciative of. Thanks, and good thoughts to you on your healthy good journey!

No reason you have to let your son slow you down. Incorporate him into your exercise..he's a great weight. :)

Also, if you have the money to spare, get a jogging stroller or one of those bike trailers. You can use your child's weight to aid your workout effort.

Welcome to WLF and good luck on your journey.

Hi and welcome! :) I suggest that you start a diary -- and read through other members for great tips. Good luck with your weight loss and glad to have you here!

Hi Melissa,

I wouldn't suggest cutting meats out of your diet completely. Lean chicken/turkey without skin can be really good for you. You have to look at the portions and what they are cooked in is all. You need protein for you muscles. Veggies give protein, true, but do they give you enough?

I hope by cutting out wheat products that you are not substituting them with some other food like white bread. I doubt it, but I have to bring it up.

White flour, white rice, White sugar etc... horrible for you.

Make sure that you have a diet thats low in sodium, sugar and saturated fats. Eat foods that are high in fiber/protein and good fats (poly and mono fats).

You are off to a good start. Make sure not to starve yourself. How many calories are you intaking?

Hello and Thanks!

Hello. Thanks for the post! I agree, I think I might incorporate some lean meats in my eating as well. I agree about the white breads. I do not eat white bread, white pasta, rice and more. I do eat brown rice, potatoes (limited idaho or sweet). I do eat protein bars, and veggie burgers, tofu, and such as well as dairy (cheese on salads, low fat cheese sticks) for even more protien. I am consuming about 800 calories, but I want to be healthy so I think I will try to consume more, just to be on the safe side. I was for a while eating whole grains, meat in moderation such as chiken on salad and no meats cooked with oil, and also veggies, fruit, dairy and I was losing weight. I think I might start again, because I want to be healthy. I just am so set on losing this weight! When I was younger I used to do the not eat for 2 to 3 days, but with a three year old growing I need to have energy so I try to eat every 2 to 3 hours, even if it is a piece of fruit, a piece of cheese, and for meals salad with veggie "meat" or protien bars with fruit juice and water. Thank you for your help, I am going to do this the right way to be as healthy as possible. I am glad so many of you here are being healthy! Thanks for the help. I am sending you good thoughts on your strong healthy life! Thanks!
