Hi All!

Glad I found this place - from reading around a bit, this seems like such a nice supportive community!

So my sister in law sent me photos that she took of a recent family gathering, and seeing my overweight self in photos (I generally avoid cameras) made me cry. Since having kids I've really really let myself go - not intentionally but I just always seem to end up last on the list of things to take care of. And with two little kids, I'm not exactly sure how to manage make the time to exercise, but it's just got to happen!

My plans are to try to walk as much as I can in the evenings once they're in bed now that it's light out- hopefully 3 times a week for an hour. I'd love to get to the pool and do laps once a week as well, so hopefully the hubby will support me in that and get up early once a week or so. And I'm going to put my little step up thing in living room and do that in the mornings for 20mins or so while the kids eat their breakfast. And if they manage to nap at the same time at all during the day, I'll get on the elliptical, but generally that's an exercise in frustration as I end up having to tend to one or the other every little while so we'll just have to see how that goes.

So that's my best attempt to figure an exercise plan. It's going to be tough to squish in and stick to, but things just must change!

As for eating, no special diet plans. I'm just going to make healthy choices, eat less, and no eating in the evenings after supper.

Looking forward to getting to know all of you!

Celia

Hey, and welcome! You sound like a very busy lady!

We have similar goals.. I'm a little bit heavier than you right now and I'm aiming for 150. It's possible, and just keep visiting the site, stick to exercising when you can, and keep your chin up! I'll check in on how you're doing :)

Welcome Celia! Try to add some weight training in there as well. It's a really important part of exercise. Maybe you could try that while the kids nap - it would be something that you could stop and start in between sets easier than getting on and off an elliptical and losing your "groove" (and letting your heart rate drop). At least that's what I think...somebody might correct me though!

How old are the kids? Get them involved in some of your exercise too - family hikes, walks around the neighborhood, yoga with kids classes, etc. It'll be easier to incorporate exercise if it doesn't take time away from taking care of the kiddos!

HI RadiantPebble and Madness! Thanks for the welcome! Looking forward to having some buddies on this journey we do seem to have very similar goals!

Good idea for the weight training while the kids nap. I might work that in a few days a week. I did find something online that is about a 25min routine with situps, butt lifting things, pushups, ect. I figure I'll do that with the kids and they'd get a kick out of it :) My son just turned four, and my daughter will be 2 at the end of the summer, so they'll enjoy laughing at my contortions!

Take care!

Karen
