My current weight is 218. I'd like to weigh 185.
I;m a 25 year old male. 6ft1.

Any tips for dieting, exercise that would be best for this are much appreciated.

This is a cool site!

We are somewhat similar as I want to get down to 185 but I currently am 254 along with being 6'2

I am going to run 3 times a week and lift weights 2 times a week!

Welcome to the boards Bleem. My personal advice? Start eating real, clean and wholesome foods, don't eat junk or fast foods, cut down on processed foods. Eat a balanced healthy diet, but small meals, plenty of fruit and veg. Start the day with a healthy breakfast. If you want to do it right, then start counting your calories. You might consider signing up with a free online counter such as Fitday.com. Also consider opening a thread in the online diary section on these boards. Become more active, start an exercise regime, maybe something like OrleanLink's.

There are lots of tips and tricks that you can pick up on here, recipes etc. For example, fill up on low calorie soups, drink more water, fill up early in the day on wholegrains and fibre, etc.

Don't be ripped off by the weight loss industry - don't waste time with pills, potions, magic diet plans etc. Its simple - you burn more calories by becoming more active. You eat less calories by sensible dieting.

Try to make changes in your life that will help you maintain your weight loss permanently, for example, by cultivating tastes in healthy foods, better eating habits, and by finding exercise that you enjoy!

Good luck with the journey :)

Thanks... I've only been signed on for minutes and the support and response is already overwhelming. I've found a good place!

I just registered at Fitday (Thanks Sophie) and I'm going to be very descriptive about my regimens and such on here.

Thanks.

:D

PS: I never did trust in the weight loss industry. I always knew it was more of a personal thing.

no problem.
it just saves the hassle of wondering whether youve gone over or not and how much you should be eating blahblah etcetc
just remember
move more eat less
(the best advice anyone every gave me)

Finished last night out with a somewhat pitiful dinner... but I should point out I'm a terrible cook. So, effort is everything. haha.

I came home and was pretty tired so I just threw together a huge salad of my own.... all the usual suspects (lettuce, etc.) with extras: chickpeas, boiled egg, and I'm weird so I put corn in it.

3 more bottled waters (16 fl. oz) so I got about a total of 5 yesterday.
Which is good though I don't know how many glasses that equals.

This morning, I had my usual coffee and a bowl of Wheaties with banana.

Since, I snacked on carrots , Sugar-Free Jello and more water.
I intend to walk for 30 minutes on the treadmill and work out briefly later on.
:)

I feel better!

Having this site as a log kind of makes me more aware.
