Hello... would love some help in my weight loss journey

Hello, my name is Josey, I'm from Australia and overweight.

I really hope this is the last time I attempt to lose weight and become healthier. I seem to always get to the point of starting and then I easily sink back into my horrible habits of laziness and bad eating.

I have a lot of problem with motivation, leaving the house and doing things alone due to depression and social anxiety which is why I believe I've struggled in the past.

I'm wondering what the best methods to be organised before I even begin, like what foods do people find easy to meal prep and how long they last in the fridge, what I should include in a journal and how should I set it out, basic clothing that I'll be needing to exercise, etc. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thank you :)

Welcome Josey. The weight loss journey is never an easy one, but I believe anyone can win the battle. As I just mentioned to someone else, there are a lot of great apps out there that can help you get started, if aren't confortable going to the gym. I like to use coach.me to keep me accountable (it just reminds me to go to the gym every day and I use some of the other functions to do pushups every day, for example) and the Nike+ app has a whole ton of at home workouts ... great start.

As for a journal, it's up to you. Some people simply track their weight, others use it as a food diary, or just a place to put their daily struggles. It's really up to you. For me, it would help me stay accountable. I would post my measurements, what you did for exercise and what foods you eat. This will help stop you from eating bad foods because you then have to report it to everyone ... just my thoughts.

Reason I said measurements instead of weight is because I think weight one of the worst gauges for weight loss. Sounds funny, but you can be in better shape at 150 lbs, for example, than 135 lbs if you have good muscle tone. Over simplified, but both these guys are the same weight:

There was a good one I saw a few weeks ago with a real women, but I couldn't find it.
