OK, im totally out of shape, infact at the tender age of 22 im morbidly obese at 6'6" 358 pounds, i just joined the gym and im focusing on cardio, so i get on the stationary bike and ride for about 13 minutes (went about 2.3 miles on the 1 setting), i noticed my legs were like lead for about 20 seconds after doing this (PS i never learned to ride a bike so this is a whole new movement for my body also, me Being an idiot i didn't stretch before hand) After the bike I walked in place for like a minute to get the proverbial lead out and hit the tread mill, i noticed at the 1 setting, granted i just got off the bike my heart rate was close to 130, so i walk on 1.5 for about 14 minutes, and figure this isn't going to do much for me, i juice it up slowly to 2 even for the 20 minutes or so, then i juice it up to 2.5 i was shocked to see at the 2.5 setting my heart rate was at a staggering 148-150 i know these things aren't 100 percent accurate but i got spooked so i slowed it down. As the treadmills speed dropped so did my heart rate back down to the 130's i hit a 100 calories about 40 minutes burned and hopped off only to find that my legs were no longer lead but more like jello/floaty like walking on a cloud , now i haven't worked out for a awhile and i my eating to like 2500 calories a day opposed to what i was eating (like alot) and i walk my dog everyday, not to mention i quit smoking cigarettes and pot in December, and the feeling went away in like two minutes after some regular ground walking and a quick bottle of water but i must admit i was weirded it out by the feeling and a tad lightheaded (this went away almost instantly).
I was just wondering if anyone can relate to the feelings i was having after my first work out, hell i've just gotten over a deep depression and even before that i was pretty sedentary so im pretty much an exercise virgin, and i didn't feel any soreness, or chest pain or anything alarming like that, not to mention after i started my BP meds my doc encouraged me to exercise (and i got 2 private EKG's at the hospital to make sure this was a good idea) and pretty much i just want to be safe when im exercising, sorry for the long winded post i guess i just want some closure/peace of mind ...also any tips on obese men looking to lose like 130 pounds in about 18-24 months would be nice.
