Hello i'm new!

Hi everyone :) My name is Mandy and 17 going on 18.
In my culture(asian) and country, there is a huge empathsize on being thin.
I am borderline overweight and my classmates occasionally make fun of me.
I have read that telling your family and friends would be helpful in motivating you to lose weight.. well that didn't go very well...

(Sorry it's gonna be kind of long)

My aunt laughed at me. She kept reminding me how fat i was and how big my face is.. this led to emotional eating and once i hid in my room eating muffins and she came in and laughed even more.. saying i can never lose weight.

My family did not try to help me at all. My mom kept buying fattening foods like potato chips, chocolates, deep-fried food, even though i kept telling her it's not good.

Instead of helping me, my friends actually tempt me with food.

I really don't know what is going on.

Since i can't get any help in the real world, i really hope you guys here can help and motivate me.

I have been on and off with my diet. One day i would eat extremely healthy and the next day i would just binge and this becomes a cycle. I exercise at least 3 times a week, doing tae-bo (on youtube) or jogging for around 30-40 minutes. I believe the reason i can't lose weight is because of my diet.

Btw, i am 152cm (abt 5 ft), and 52kg (abt 115 lbs). My ulimate goal is to get back my healthy weight 4 years ago, which is abt 45kg (99 pounds). But for now, i'm aiming to lose 3 kg first.

Can you guys give me advice on how to lose those 3kg and how long it is going to take? I am a student so i would not have time to go gym, however i do have a treadmil (though i prefer jogging outside), eplitcal machine and 5kg weights at home.

If i do see any improvement i'll be posting my process in the before and after section!

We're here to support you, not make fun of you. So you have nothing to worry about!

Your goal seems realistic and achievable, which is a good start. However, a big emphasis on the forum is not to limit yourself to achieving a certain weight loss within a certain period of time. It is too limiting, and can lead to great discouragement when you don't lose the weight.

Your number one priority should be to change your lifestyle. Eat healthier, become more active, etc. With that, weight loss will just come to you. Losing weight should be the effect of changes in your life, and it should be the changes that you strive for - not the weight loss.

Either way, it sounds like you've got many temptations around your house. Seeing as you are able to eat healthy some days and not others, I have a tip for you. Before going to bed on a healthy day, write in a diary how you felt about that day. Whether you felt good or bad, healthy or unhealthy. Do the same after having an unhealthy day which involved a lot of binging. Then, whenever you feel as if you are going to have an unhealthy day, go back and compare your two diary entries. I can almost guarantee you it will convince you to put the snacks aside and pick up a piece of fruit.

I have been eating lots of fruits but it has alot of natural sugars no? Is it still ok to eat a huge amt of fruits?

It's perfectly fine to eat a lot of fruit. It's better than eating junk food, so it's definitely a step in the right direction. Just ensure that you get enough of everything else in your diet too, so don't limit yourself to fruits.
 
Dam.. just yesterday i was eating alright and my dad suprised me with traditional cakes and aunt with roasted duck and fried noodles with eggs! I totally gave in! The cycle! Ahhh..
 
Not yet! I'm not really into the habit yet! But i'm trying.. but i am writing down what i eat throughout the day. Tmr i will write my feelings down. Hopefully tmr will be good and not go back to the cycle coz i ate fine today!
