Hi everyone! I just joined & am looking forward to parcitipating & learning here!

My name's Brenda & I live in Colrado Springs, CO. I will share my story (it's short!).

I was peaked at about 260, & was overweight for about 10 years with it gradually getting up to 260 during the last year. I decided to try a local (Las Vegas at the time) "doctor managed" weight loss program, which consisted of phentermine, topomax & a thyroid pill. The program was great but expensive. I also went in once a week for what they called a "B-shot" which consisted of vitamin B, garlic, & other stuff.

It DID work - I lost 80 lbs. in a year. Because I carried ALOT of my excess weight in the mid section (apple shaped) I was really worried about loose skin (I'm 27 - was 36 during that time). To my surprise, there's SOME but not NEARLY as much as I'd feared. I also tried this program for loose skin & it DOES work! Check the links for loose skin: .

HOWEVER, I stopped this program about a year ago, & have since gained back quite a bit of it. When I was 260, I was a size 24. After losing 80 lbs, I was a size 12. Now I'm up to a tight fitting 14. I think alot of the reasons is because I just took the pills - I did not implement any lifestyle changes.

It also greatly suppresses appetite & MAKES you drink TONS of water - I even wonder if all the water drinking was a BIG factor in the weight loss! Has anyone read the book, "Your Body's Many cries for Water"? It's very enlightening!

Anyway, that's my story! I want to learn lifestyle changes & not just use a guick "miracle" fix because without real lifestyle changes, I know I'll keep putting it back on.

My interests are the Fit For Life program by the Diamonds, but I haven't implemented it yet & was wondering if anyone here has & can offer their experience?

Thanks & Looking forward to getting to know more of you!

Hi Brenda,

I just joined this site myself. Looking forward to getting a lot of good information. Weight loss has to be a lifestyle change! I do agree with you about the water. I find that when I drink at least a gallon a day that helps me with weight loss. I am looking to lose between 15 to 20 pounds.

Welcome and congrats for wanting to make a lifestyle change! You should look into starting a diary on this site and setting a plan as far as eating and exercise goals.

That seems very odd that your size is so different at that weight than it used to be! But a good thing!

Hi Brenda,

Loosing the weight is not really about dieting but like you say implementing lifestyle changes. The most common way people are loosing weight here are by diet and exersize. I guess we have all in the past got caught up with the daily grudge i.e work and other stuff and forgot how to eat healthy and stay active. But as I just mentioned diet and exersize, it may sometimes be a slower way to loose the weight but it is more a more proven way and hopefully the lifestyle changes that you go through will help keep your weight off.

Look foward to seing your progress.

Big John
