Hello! My name's Cath and I live in Florida. This August I will attend Florida Southern College.
I weigh 155lbs and I'm 5'2". I'm overweight and my goal is to lose 25lbs. I'm just scared of that horrible Freshman 15. D: I've pretty much been 155lbs since the sixth grade. I don't even have a good reason as to why I gained so much weight in sixth grade. I just ate ramen noodles religiously after school, everyday and drank soda. Since the doctor's appointment that year I've cut out soda and I've stayed at 155lbs. Recently, though, I dropped down to 149lbs near the end of May, but then I went on vacation for a week and went right back to 155lbs. I'm determined to lose that 25lbs and keep it off and avoid gaining the Freshman 15!
So, that's my story and I hope I can get some helpful tips and encouragement.

hey, i know the feeling been dere..Im studin at uni...sine starting weightloss again this year i lost 20lbs but put 7 lbs when had to revise for exams and all those deadlines..lol although i realised a bit late but better late den never and losing weight finally, u definitely gonna enjoy college but things can be even more enjoyable if ur healthy weight (coz u can do lot more) and its nice to fit in wid the average size people lol...but u not too far from goal weight,u already made the 1st step to starting losing weight...nways this site has enough advice, as you are young I don't know if you cook, nways I luv noodles btw well i found 2 gud alternatives to dem u can either use rice noodles cook with chicken or veg stock cube, which has less calories and more healthier choice would be wholegrain pasta (iknow bit different in taste n texture) but it will give sustained energy just make eat the right portion and just throw in few veg. Another ting its hard to stay away from all the indulgin food sooo nxt time u goin get sweets biscuits try to make a gud choice look at the packgin e.g. biscuit instead of something with lots calories tae something with less calories and sugar same wid most of the quick stuff you eat. One of the best stuff I found was u can have your choclate..lol, get dark choclate (in propotion) melt it in the microwave just few seconds till its runny and get few strawberries or nuts just dip them in the choclate and eat its yummy n soo easy. I've got too many alternatives now, i cud keep writin lol...nways main key eat healthy n healthy dosen't mean boring, if you cook gr8 many recipies around the net and excercise 30+ mins each day 5-6 days a week. Gud luck wid your weight loss it

Ramen noodles - the packaged kind - are loaded with saturated fat, that might be the reason for the gain. That and the soda - think of full calorie soda as liquid candy, due to the sugar content it basically is.

Anyway, I just started the forum today so I'm new too. I just wanted to welcome you and wish you luck! :D

Saturated fat, and even soda and candy, do not make you gain weight directly.

Is is totally calories in. If they are more than what you burn in a day you gain.
