Hello, I'm new! (again) :D

Hellooooo, I was here a long time ago but my life got a little crazy, but it's settled down a little and I'm back!

I hate to even admit this but I weigh 250 (as of the gym's scale this morning). I am 22 years old and I am 6'0" tall. My goal is not to really lose numbers on the scale, but I really just want to look and feel better about myself. I'd like to be stronger and have a tighter, nicer looking body.

I just moved into a new city and found my first gym to join. I have been doing a lot of cardio since I started, and now I've added some resistance weight training alternating every day. I take Sunday off. I don't really know a whole lot about exercising. I've just been learning from articles on the internet, my dad and the people at the gym. I've slowly been making changes in my diet also, taking out soda, tea, drinking low fat milk, not snacking so much anymore.

Any advice is super appreciated because as I said, I really don't know what I'm doing!

Apart from that, my name is Cody! I love to play guitars, drums and record music. I've been in a few bands! I'm also kind of nerdy, I use Linux on my phone and Cyanogenmod 7 on my Droid, if that means anything to you. (;

..and that's me at the beach, where I live. :)

Welcome!

I was in a very similar position to you Sept 09 apart from I was also a pack-a-day smoker.
My advice?

1) Cut the junk form your diet. (Cokes/chips/etc - if it comes wrapped in a lot of plastic, don't eat it)
2) Count calories - You will HAVE to invest in a kitchen scale to even be close here. If you're another geek then you'll get into the swing easily.
3) Work out like a demon. Cardio - weights - cardio - weights - cardio - weights - off. That was my routine. I found it was quite easy to get to a certain point without knowing too much.
4) Track your bodyfat, ultimately what we're all trying to do is to change our fat%. I've dropped from 253lbs and 33% fat to 186lbs and 18%. From where I am now I don't care a whole lot about my weight but I do want to drop my bodyfat %.

Currently I'm working with a trainer periodically to get a jump start on dropping my bodyfat to 12-15%

Good luck with your journey, and remember to be patient. You didn't get fat overnight, you won't get thin overnight either.

Cody, I would suggest starting a diary to track your food and your workouts which would also allow other members to make suggestions on where to improve.
