I am so glad I found this forum! I am trying to lose the excess body fat from having my son 5 years ago and from a few medications I had taken a while back that causes pre diabetes and weight gain :( but I have to start somewhere. Hoping to get to my goal of 120lbs... I am 137lbs right now... That may not sound like much but I apparently not doing the right things because I have been pretty steady at this weight for a while (at a plateau) I've recently purchased a nutribullet to get more nutrients into my diet and have been eating more frequently and try to not starve or deprive myself because I know that leads to greater weight gain but at times it is hard. Drinking the proper amount of good water is also a little bit difficult..., but 2 years ago when I met my husband I was 160lbs so considering I have lost a lot of weight.. However I guess besides weight loss I would like an overall inch loss. Just hoping to make the correct connections with people here to share my goals with :) thank you for allowing me at your forum!!

Welcome to the forum.

Well done on your 23 pound weight loss. You are over half way to your goal. :)
You do not mention exercise in your posting - and that may be the key to both improving your current rate of weight loss and also giving the overall inch loss at the level that you aspire to.

Quite a few people anticipate looking more toned at their goal weight and find that they only get the appearance that they had hoped for by exercising.

Any form of exercise is good as it helps to burn calories - even walking is an excellent form of exercise.
Exercise involving building muscles not only help us to burn calories but also improve toning. You could look into what exercises you could do involving weights - either at a gym or at home... Alternatively, maybe a class would be more enjoyable for you. Keep fit classes can involve such things as mat exercises and others involving your own body weight. Classes are also available in yoga and pilates which can help.

I know that I was surprised at the improvement that I got from my own dance classes (I expected them to be pure cardio) - but they can involve a lot of moves where you have to engage your core muscles...

The main thing is that you find something that you enjoy - because it can be easy to find an excuse to not do something that you do not enjoy.

I suggest that you read the following thread - it may help you settle in and make friends

Good luck with your project.

Awesome job on your weight loss! You dont have much to go! I am needing to lose about 10 More lbs I have lost about 55 Lbs since I had my baby and she is almost 1. I gained 50 while prego lol. I am here with you on this journey! Stay strong and get it off :)

Losing inches can be as (if not more) rewarding as losing the lbs. The best way to do that, as Omega allready said, is to work out.
Working out, even at a low intensity level will also improve your body and all the workings of it. For example, working out a light heartrate (approx 60-70% of your max heart) will improve your metabolism, which in turn will help you burn the calories.

Are you allready on some form of exercising? If so, keep it up, if not try to find activities or workouts you'll enjoy. Plenty of choices out there!

Good job so far, keep at it!

Hi omega, and thank you for the tip!! You are exactly right, I used to do a workout called turbo jam that worked well years ago and am now looking into joining a gym as well. I've never tried any classes before but it is worth a shot because I would be meeting more people that would help me to reach my goals. I have considered going running in the park there is plenty of time now since the sun will be up until midnight in June (I am in Alaska) so I have no excuse not to!! :)

I think that joining a gym is a great idea. I have done a few turbo jam classes (I am currently addicted - no other word for it - to salsa and zumba) but I have known people absolutely swear by turbo jam. The fact that you have done that before with good result (and clearly enjoyed doing it) means that is well worth you looking into...

Doing it now is a really good move.

I have known quite a few people on these boards and elsewhere post that they have got to their goal weight but been unhappy with their overall shape. The term often used is "skinny fat". Exercise (combined with controlled nutrition) tends to mean that people get results that is nearer to what they hoped for.

I recently discovered my husband had brought home the "Insanity" workout DVDs lol.,, so here I tried it and discovered how out of shape I actually am. I know what you mean by skinny fat because that is a little bit of my problem, other than just extra skin in my midsection, I do need to step up on cardio and circuit training..., I think that turbo jam is easier than the insanity program for beginnners. I sat there and watched it and first but then got into the insanity workout and I have to say I have to give myself credit for what I could do. Wow lol
