Hello, my name is Tim and I'm from Minnesota. I am 24 yrs old 6' 3" and weight 360 lbs. I am married and live with my wife, we both have weight struggles and find that one of us always screws up the other person. It's kind of hard when we are both tempting each other every day. Our current eating schedule is basically slim fast shake for bfast, sandwich for lunch, and pizza for dinner and diet soda all day long approx 6 cans. This is all followed by a bowl of ice cream every night at about 9 pm. These are very bad eating habits and in fact right now we are going to walk to the store and buy some fruits, veggies, and fish. Where do I stand in the whole weight loss thing. Well here is my story.

I have been a husky feller all my life not real big though. Then I decided to loose weight in 2001-2002. I went from what was then 298lb to 230lb doing the slim fast diet and drinking lots of water(please see attached picture brothers wedding 2003). I lost all this weight over one summer period and then went back to college and gained it all back. Now I got married in june 2006 and am currently 360lb(please see attached picture: my wedding 2006). I want to get down to under 200lb and then i will be happy.

I think i am going to try to start eating 6-7 fist size meals a day and include many...many fresh veggies, and fruits along with whole grain breads. I am going to try to drop the diet soda and switch solely to water.

Please let me know what you think and any words of encouragement would be great!

Hi Tim! Welcome to the forums. Sounds like you're making some good plans.

I recommend quitting on the sugar (I always say this, because it's done me so much good). I also recommend doing all of your grocery shopping once a week to avoid regularly buying bad food. If you can plan your meals out in advance, it's easier not to go astray.

The other thing which I have been doing and has made me pretty happy is to have one dedicated junk food night (which I can only have if I've been strict about my eating during the week). It's Friday night, where I unwind from the week with fried chicken and chips, and a couple of beers. All the grease and salt and stuff is satisfying, and it has very little impact on my overall weight (other than showing up on the scales for a day or so).

This means you could have a pizza and ice cream night once a week without feeling bad about it!

Anyway, best wishes for it, it sounds like you're off to a good start!

Welcome to the forum Tim!

Little changes are good and even a few changes for the better on your regular diet will help. Finding what's best for you is the key - there doesn't seem to be one set diet that works for everyone so find something that works for you as an individual and then just go for it!

Good luck and stick around :)
