This is not my first post but I figured I would take a moment to say hello to all. My name is eddie and I just recently started dieting a couple of weeks ago and have lost about 10 pounds already. I decided to start taking my health a little more seriously due to the fact that my mother just passed away at the age of 58 due to complications with her diabetes. My mother found out she had diabetes when she was my age (22) and since then she struggled to get it under control. My mother lost her battle with diabetes 4 weeks ago and I feel that she died too young. I made a promise to myself the day she died that I would not take my own health lightly anymore. I look forward to meeting you all and I wish you all the best of luck in your own efforts.

Hi there Eddie,

first off my condolences to you and your family. I know how difficult that can be. I lost my grandfather in February of this year due to a severe heart attack. (He too was diabetic.)

Please let me be the first in saying good on you for wanting to become healthy. I'm pretty much in the same boat as you are. Sadly enough, it takes something drastic inorder for some of us to really "wake up." (That's so me... ) My grandparents (all 4) were diabetic and now, both my father and mother are diabetic as well. It just pains me seeing my dad suffering from poor circulation to the point it's difficult for him to walk longer than a hour.

Anyways, if you're looking for a long distance workout buddy/ motivator, then I'd be more than happy to. (I haven't had all too much luck in that department on this site so far. haha!) All in all, good luck and my prayers go out to you and yours.

-Sheryl
