Hello everyone,

I finally joined the gym at the beginning of April and started a diet. I go to 2 dance lessons a week, a yoga class and work out at the gym about 3 times a week. During gym sessions I do about 40 mins cardio and then about 10 mins resistance training.

I have cut out the unhealthy cooked breakfast in the morning and snacks of potato chips in the afternoon. I'm now eating 3 meals a day (with smaller portions) and snacks of fruit or yogurt in between. I've cut down on red meat and try to eat more fish for main meals.

My initial weight was 196lbs and I intend to get down to 126lbs. So far I have lost 8lbs and am now down to 188lbs. So I have a long way to go. I'm 5ft tall BTW and 39 years old. So am currently obese but aim to change things. I aim to get to target weight by January 2010 when I turn 40 but I think it might take longer than that.

Thanks Flumes!

I lost 8lbs in the month of April but have not lost any in the month of May. Mainly down to the fact that I was on holiday for a couple of weeks and then going out to eat too often. Will try to get back on track.

This looks like a great forum and it is an inspiration to see other people's progress.

The best thing I did was to join the gym. I can't imagine not doing any exercise at all like I was doing before or not doing before. Going to the gym keeps me focused on the diet. As I don't won't to undo all the good work I do at the gym by scoffing myself afterwards!
