Hello from an almost running coach!

Hi Everyone!

Just thought i would post a quick hello!

I used to be pretty overweight but have been running recreationally for five years and the weight has been dropping off ever since!

I now run competitively as part of a club and am currently undertaking my athletics coaching qualification.

I would be only too happy to write some 101's or 'how to' guides based on my experience as I really do love running a bit too much!

If anyone has any topic requests then let me know and i will get started right away...as an example i wrote this article on link removed.
Look forward to meeting you all in the forums!

Ross

Hey Ross88guy!

I always wanted to learn how to get started running. With a tall stature and being overweight, I always felt too "clunky" as my wife calls it, to run.

I'ld like to give it a whirl once my weight hits 200.

Thanks for the link. I will look into it.

Take care

Hi Flumes,

Running is one of the most rewarding things you can do so you should definitely give it a try! I am slightly biased as I am addicted to it but i seriously couldn't imagine my life without it!

That clunky feeling you have is probably just because your body is not used to running yet. Over time you develop an efficient running posture and stride and it all becomes a lot easier - kind of like learning to swim!

I am just writing a running 101 for the exercise/fitness section of the forum so if you are interested I will let you know when it is finished!

Yes....let me know. I am looking forward to it.

I was hoping to do the couch to 5 k thingy, but am still uncomfortable running.

Thanks again.

Hi Flumes

You need to get a really uncomfortable couch! Then you will have to go for a run...or just get a cushion. Hmmm i see this idea needs more thought!

I have written that article i was on about. If you want to take a look the link is below. Let me know if it is a pile of rubbish as I am new to this whole forum posting thing so any pointers you can give as a forum professional will be much appreciated :)

hey there

Am looking to getting into running, however each time I try I get so far then my routine changes and I find it hard to get back into it.

I don't know if its my motivation or what...however I know its something I want to do. Any advice on giving yourself a mental kick up the bum? :)

Haha i am still working on that mental kick myself!

The thing that I have found to be most useful is to join a running club or jog with a few friends.

I started this "weight loss" thing at a slow pace.. First I started Eating healthy and have so far loss 20 pounds just by changing my diet.. but i realize that i still need to exercise.. Today I started running. I did 3 km in 20 minutes. (I'm currently 245 pounds 5'11'') Was just wondering if this is sufficient.. or if its to much or not enough? Any pointers would be helpful, thank you:)
