Hello...From a wannabe fit person.

Hello Forum People,
Just a brief intro, My name is Jim, I am 16 years of age. I am 6ft 5 and slightly overweight (16 stone ish)...Currently I am doing a workout routine based on my own imagination...(20 press ups, 30 sit ups, 3 sets of 10 17 kg curls.)..I play rugby so my main targets are to increase my speed, stamina and strength. Oh and I would like to slim down along the way. Any advice on this would be welcome, however I am quite happy to mooch around the hundreds of threads all ready addressing my targets.

What you're currently doing is solely strength focused, although you'll need to add more exercises like squats, lunges, etc. to work your whole body, not just your upper body. What equipment do you have available?

To increase stamina, you need to focus on cardiovascular exercise such as jogging, swimming, cycling. Try to do a mixture of longer, lower intensity and interval training (look up HIIT for some ideas). For increasing speed, you'll need to focus on sprinting drills and plyometrics. Agility drills can help with footwork, which if you're clumsy, can indirectly help with speed :)
