Welcome to the forum. There is a lot of great information here if you check out the sections and the sticky threads.

Make friends by starting a diary and visiting other people in their diaries. We leave messages and meet each other that way.

Joining clubs and challenges are also great ways of meeting people. The more you post and therefore support other people - the more likely you are to make lots of great friends.

You need to monitor what you eat. You can get a free account from and use this to monitor your calories and nutritional breakdown of your food.

Exercise is a key aspect in successful weight loss. Adopt some form of regular exercise. Walking is a great form of exercise - and does not have to be done too quickly by anyone big (you didnt mention your size). I started off walking quite slowly (I did everything slowly back then) and found that I naturally speeded up as I got fitter. It really boosted my weight loss.

Getting a pedometer really helped me become more generally active too.
