Hello Everyone!

Hi everyone! I'm new here, my name is Rachel~ I'm 15 years old. I've been having trouble balancing my weight for a while....for a few years, I've been "dieting" poorly. I've been skipping meals, putting my body into "starvation mode", and exercising like crazy. I ended up binging and then feeling horrible about it right afterwards. I knew it wasn't healthy, but I found that I lost about 5 pounds in a few days. I've realized that it's not fat that I'm losing, it's mainly just water. I've now gained it all back and it's really hurtful.

I feel so helpless because I don't know if I can get my body back on track and lose weight in a healthy fashion. I've been sticking to skipping meals and simply binging for so long, :( I'm so scared that I won't be able to get my body back to losing weight healthily. I've been reading that I should increase my protein intake in order to increase my metabolic rate. I'm afraid to suddenly start eating protein because I don't want to shock my body with this new style of eating....I hope to lose approximately 10 pounds at least and keep it off. I'm not sure of what to do....so that's why I decided to join this forum. I want to be able to eat healthily and lose weight the right way. I don't want to "starve" myself and exercise like crazy anymore....

By joining this forum, I hope to learn how to keep my body healthy and lose weight healthily. I'm still young and I don't want to continue harming my body like I've been doing for a few years. I hope to chat with others in this forum and learn how to achieve a healthy lifestyle. ^_^

Newbie,
Rachel

well, hun, you definatly need to stop skipping meals. They say to loose weight, and keep your metabolism up, you should be eating every 2-3 hrs.

Your probably loosing muscle too, not just water...but do'tn worry, we'll help you get back on track.

Good luck, we are here for you ;D

Nip this in the bud now

Hi Rachel:)

My weight issues started at 11 and I am nearly 40 so you really want to be careful because once you get into that yoyo dieting syndrome it really mucks up your metabolism. Skipping meals is a no no.

Try and incorporate all your food groups remember you are still young and your body and mind are still growing stay away from the soft drinks, high sugar foods and foods containing lots of salt.

Try things slowly cut out one bad food at a time and instead of exercising like crazy try walking or dancing to music in the privacy of your room (fun and enjoyable workouts).

Don't let your mind obsess about your weight you are only 15 you should be doing teenage type things and enjoying this stage of your youth.

I hope this has helped a bit. All the best.

Sam:)

I've had issues for a long time as well, at one point I went to a nutritionist and he told me the best thing to do is make meals smaller in size but eat more frequently. It's a bad idea to skip meals for many reasons ... I've done it and it comes back around and I'd wind up eating more at the next meal I'm having.

At 15 you don't have to worry so much, work out and diet in moderation should put you back on track. Nans68 had some really good tips I'll be following myself, my workouts have been a bummer lately :( so boring.
