Hello everyone!

I'm 24 years old (5'4 - 144pounds). I've been married for 3 years and been vegetarian for 5 years. Since I was in high school I've maintain pretty much the same weight. Bouncing around 142-145. I've actually never had a problem with my weight or how I look until recently. I realize my greatest problem is that I tend to over eat, snack when I'm bored, and really not watch what I eat. I eat a lot of things high in carbs and sugars. I also drank a lot of soda. I stopped about 3 weeks ago now I only drink a lot of water and tea. What can I say I'm not the healthiest vegetarian. But I am fed up with feeling uncomfortable in my own skin. Changing my clothes a few times before leaving the house because I hate the way I look in them. Its not a lot I know but feeling healthier and feeling like I look better will make me happy and that's exactly what I want. I feel more motivated to eat better and exercise the pounds away. I am ready to do this. I've read some post from fellow members and those before and after stories are truly inspiring.

Let the journey begin

Thank you for reading.

It is perfectly possible that you do not need to lose any weight at all.

Regular exercise can make a huge difference in how we look and feel about ourselves - even when maintaining the exact same weight.

Our bodies always appreciate getting good quality fuel too (like how a car works better if it gets the right grade of fuel while you might get it to start on a cheaper quality fuel - you would not expect the same performance).

You would really benefit from reading around the exercise and nutrition sections and pay particular attention to the sticky threads.

Get a free account from in order to log your food and hone your nutrition so that you get enough protein. For example someone at or near goal weight that does a reasonable amount of exercise would probably benefit from getting something like 1g of protein for each pound of weight. Naturally your vegetarian diet will limit your choice of protein - but I am sure that you eat lots of things like beans and quorn etc that are really healthy. It is possible that you are not getting enough. You may find that when you cut out the junk you actually need to add some healthy fats with things like olives or avacados in order to improve the balance.

Good luck. I am sure that you will soon be feeling much more comfortable in your skin.

Thank you for your reply. Since I've cut out the junk food I do feel better and with more energy not sluggish as I often felt. I've always made sure I got enough protein since I don't eat meat. I have a protein shake a day as well as meat substitutes which are high on protein. As for the healthy fats, you mentioned avocados YUM! They are my favorite so I absolutely make sure those are in my diet. I'm going for a smart balanced meal and lots of water throughout the day. Moderation is the key. I been exercising, doing good cardio and pilates working myself up for a bigger challenge. You are right, I have been feeling better however I do feel the need to loose a few pounds. For me it is very important to feel comfortable and happy with myself. I'm working towards achieving that goal. Thank your for your words. I feel very encouraged visiting this forum.

;)

I'm sure that if you take a little effort to clean up your fuel intake, as Omega says, and start getting regular exercise, you will lose some weight, but I'm sure that feeling better and healthier will go far in making you feel more comfortable in that skin.

Dropping the soda was one of the best things you could have done.

I hope you prosper here, and find what you need to realise your goals.

It is good that you have started cleaning up your food and started feeling better for it. Drinking quite a lot of water (within reason) is a good move - the recommendation is that we should drink at least 1 oz for every 2 pounds of our current weight. Since you are not heavy you are probably doing that. Believe me - the heavier people here find that to be quite a challenge. Obviously we do not drink vast quantities as like everything you can have too much of a good thing.

Many of us believe that we are getting enough of certain nutrients (I certainly thought that I was because I had cleaned up my act by the time that I came here 6 months into my project and having lost quite a lot of weight by then) - but there was certainly room to tighten up my nutrition. I cannot suggest strongly enough that you log a few days worth of food into fitday (it doesnt cost anything) and see how many grams of the different nutrients you are getting each day and check the actual percentage balance. We can feel like we are getting enough of the different nutrients when still not getting enough.

Hi All,
New here also. Finally got my ticker up and running.:). Just one question, Is there a way I can update the ticker without having to come back on this forum to get the ticker. I have tried but must be doing something wrong. No trouble to update if go on to this site and click on the ticker itself and enter pin etc. Apologies if this is a stupid question. Appreciate anyones help on this. Thanks

It would be best if you stopped piggy-backing off other people's threads... This is Lolitahazes's thread and you should come in here if you want to talk to her about her situation / query.

Start your own thread in the appropriate section... There is a new thread button so use it.

In answer to your question. That is what you do. Come into the forum. Click on your ticker. Login and update it.
