Hello Everybody.

I'm not sure what to put here (I should have probably read somebody elses introduction first) but i've come this far so we'll see what comes out.

I have had weight issues pretty much my entire life. I'm currently six foot four and I weigh a little over 19 1/2 stone (273lbs). Five years ago I weighed about 12 stone (168lbs) and ever since I left my flat and moved back in with my parents (financial reasons, which is why I can't do the reverse) my weight has gone straight back up. Before I got my flat I weighed about 17 stone, eating habits of living on my own differ from regular cooked meals which is why I tend to weigh more living with my family.

I'd like to get down to possible 14 stone, so anywhere around the 200lb mark. Truth be told, i've had weight issues for so long that I don't really know what normal is any more. I don't know if 200 would be too much or too little. I guess i'll see if I ever get there.

Anyway, the name is Adam, i'm 25 years old and I'm currently out of work.

Oh yes, and the x-factor is that I eat when i'm bored.

Hello Adam, welcome to the Forum. :)

I find the community here to be very supportive.

Any advice that I could give, would be to start a diary on the sub-forum here.

I wish you the best of luck, Take Care

Thankyou Running Girl (if that is your real name) things are going okay, lost six pounds in the last 11 days. I'm told that's too much too fast, but the truth is i'm not starving myself, i've just cut out all the snacks and things, and started walking every day. So I don't know if it's going too fast, the only way to slow things down is to eat more crisps and that seems somewhat counter-productive!

Thanks for the messages guys. I'll ask it here because i'm not a big fan of treading on toes by posting in the wrong section..

If I have tiny questions, perhaps just one sentence or so, that i'm curious about (such as water retention, body aching, things of that nature) where's the best place to ask them?

Hi there. Welcome.

I don't think 6 lbs in 11 days is all that bad, considering where you are. Conventional wisdom (which isn't always right, but in this case I tend to lean towards it) says 1% of your bodyweight per week is safe and healthy. For you 3-4 lbs in 7 days is ok. And when you start losing at the very beginning, it's not unusual to drop a large chunk just due to the drastic changes and even some water loss. Just don't get discouraged when you don't keep up that rate of loss as you go along. Eventually you'll probably level out at an average of 2lb per week. At least most people do. :)

As far as your questions, I'm a little new here myself, but I've noticed that "The Club" area is a good location for general questions, but check out the exercise and nutrition forums as well. Lots of good advice given. :)
