I have just joined, I really need some help! I am at the end of my rope.
Now I weigh 127 LBS right now, I'm 36 years old and I need to lose 8 LBS, I look forward to your help!

I need to know what is a low-carbohydrate diet?
Do these diets help people lose weight?

The easiest solution would probably be just to eat less, eat healthier and exercise more. You don't need to lose a lot of weight, so don't try to make the whole process more complicated than it needs to be by following one of those one-sided diets.

I believe the reason diets fail is because people are unhappy with what they're told to eat and unhappy about what they have to give up - find out what works for you.

I have reduced the amount of bread I eat and instead eat a lot more cereal. I love vegetables but hate salads so I roast all my veg. If you do decide to give up things that you enjoy replace them with other things you enjoy.

Welcome to the forum.

When people talk about going on a low carb diet they generally mean that they are cutting down on the starchy carbs. These are things like bread, rice, pasta, potatoes, cereal and flour products... Also sugars... People on this kind of diet tend to fill up with fruit, vegetables (including salad) and lean protein.

In some ways it is a misnomer as carbohydrate has a scientific meaning and all the fruit and vegetables that such people fill up on are actually carbohydrate too...

Exercise is always a good idea - especially for people that only want to lose a small amount of weight... Often such a wish is triggered by a wish for a slightly slimmer figure... Often that figure can be better achieved by becoming more toned.

I definitely suggest that you take up exercise.

I suggest that you read the following thread - it may help you settle in and make friends

Good luck with your project.
