Hello every one

Hi to those on the forum. I'm a male, i've noticed not too many of those on this site, but that's irrelevant to the point of this forum. I'm recently 16 years old i'm 6'1 and 181 pounds. I've been a stalky kid all my life, but i am thinning out. I go to my Local YMCA and lift weights, my new thing is i bike to it, about a 25 minute bike ride, with tons of inclines. My muscles are developing well but my only issue is the excess fat on the lower half of my stomach. that is the only area on my body where i carry an excess amount of weight. It's not enough shape my body differently overall, but it looks quite bad. I know i'm 16, but i've struggled emotionally with the way my stomach looks my entire life. My mom is a dietition, and i know a lot about nutrition. but i need some major advice on how to loose this abdominal problem. How can i get rid of this? thanks a lot,

P.S i enjoy the forum quite a bit. It's encouraging(now i just need to know what exercises to put this enthousiasim into)

Hi

Do you do any abdominal exercises? Sit-ups are great for toning up your abs. If you visit some of the body building web sites you will find many have a great deal of info on how to tone up specific areas of your body. Before visiting them I thought there was just one way to do sit-ups...I was wrong. Bodybuilders are perfectionists when it comes to sculpting their bodies and they have divised many, many ways to tone up those reluctant tummy muscles.

You are only sixteen and your body is going through many changes and still growing. Many teenagers find that the flab they worried about at sixteen is no longer an issue at nineteen.

Good luck

Cardio

I can sort of empathize with you because I'm not looking to gain any more muscle weight, but am instead concerned about excessive fat on certain parts of my body. I've done a bit of research and the best exercises I found for burning fat are running and jump-roping. I alternate between the two, but if it's easier for you to do one or the other I think that would be fine as well.

Another thing I can suggest (if you aren't doing this already) is that you make sure you always begin with a 5~10 minute warm up, followed by 5~10 minutes of stretching. In the same way, you should always end your work-out with a 5~10 minute cool down (jogging lightly or walking at a normal pace). Apparently the warm up, stretching, and cool down are the key to successful fat-burning, so if you're going to exercise, don't ever forget to do them. :)

Yes i do. I do three sets of about 12 repitions with 22 pounds on my chest on a decline bench, and i twist to both sides at the top of the mussle contraction. it burns. pretty good haha, if your abs show already and you want to get them buff. i suggest that work out.

:)

Those sound like good fat burning exercises, are you an avid runner and jumper? if so do you have any tips on how to get into cardiovascular exercise so that i can stick with it? If it's cardio that will burn fat the most then that's what i must do, but i can't rush into it with one big leap...same way with lifting weights, i couldn't just bench 110 off the bat. Any tips/comments?

P.S thanks for the feedback from both of you, greatly appreciated.
