Approaching 50, looking to lose 20 pounds before then, currently 190 and I haven't seen 170 in 12 years.
Those of us with more, um, mature bodies encounter barriers to weight loss that others may not face, decreased metabolism, decrease hormones, bone loss, etc. Anyone else trying to change their old bodies?

43 here!

Ya it is a bit harder. I tend to get hurt easer working out, and just dont burn like I used to!!

I am 47 (going on 18 ;)).

Diet and fitness has changed my life.

One of the greatest advice I can give you, is to never stop seeking education in what you are attempting to accomplish, understand, and continue to try to understand, yourself, within the various quality concepts of diet and fitness, and "learn" how to effectively insert them into your specific lifestyle, and specific problems you face.

Nothing is impossible if you look at the broken pieces correctly. If you look at the broken pieces as failure you already have. If you look at those broken pieces as an opportunity to create something from a puzzle, you have already won. This can be applied to life, applied between friends, and to training and diet.----Chillen

You can accomplish anything that is humanly possible.

Best regards,

Chillen

Chillen - Thanks for the thoughtful words of encouragement, the work you have done is impressive.
As my body ages, I have noticed that it is much harder to lose excess weight. Currently I have started the P90X DVDs, which I really like (this is my third week). I have been able to add some muscle but have lost only 3 pounds. I can now fit into my size 34 pants, I was wearing size 36 when I started.
I have also been feeling a lot better and have more energy. Maybe I shouldn't pay so much attention to the scale but I sure would like to drop 17 more pounds.

P90X is Excellent!!

I'm 40 and am also following the P90X program...I'm on day 50. After my body seemed to slow down responding to lifting and running, I saw the P90X infommercial and skeptically decided to give it a try. The whole concept of "muscle confusion" for maximum results did it for me. I love the program and in less than 2 months have lost 14 lbs and 6% bodyfat.

As a new member, I have not posted enough to be able to list a URL; however, if you e-mail me below I will send you a link to my pics and more information on P90X.

I love the program so much that I decided to become a Beachbody Coach and I'd be happy to answer any questions you have.

51 years old here. For you "youngsters" in your 40's...there's a noticable difference in "ease" of weight loss even between my 40's and early 50's - do it now!

I believe it. I find it more difficult to lose now at 40 than I was when I was 30.
