Hi all,

I live in North Texas. I am a male, 60 years old, 6'1", 220 lbs.
I want to loose 30 pounds by the first of April. I have a plan.

A little about me. After 3 years of intensive weekly training, several times a week...I earned my blackbelt in Taekwondo in December of 2012.
At the time I weighed 189 lbs. As you can imagine, I was in the best shape of my life.
Then I had a double hernia surgery. Then I injured my shoulder and back building a koi pond.
So, I got out of the habit of going to Taekwondo...it kind of fell by the wayside. I really want to get back into shape and get back into Taekwondo. But, over the last couple of years I've put on about 30 lbs.

I lost 40 lbs along the way to blackbelt...not just from Taekwondo though. My plan then was to cut out all sugar...except found in natural fruit. No dairy. Nothing fried. The weight dropped quickly and I felt great.
That is harder to do than one might think. But...that is my plan to go completely sugarless again.

I guess I am here for support and to learn all I can from those who have already succeeded. And to help others along the weigh where I can.

Welcome to the forum! I think you'll find great success considering that you already know what to do and have something you love to motivate you.

I would also suggest making a diary in the diary subforum, if you are interested. It tends to be the most active forum and the people there are wonderful and supportive.

thanks Cory..I'll check it out. I have an memo app on my phone...what I am doing there is documenting everything that has any calories at all...basically everything that goes into my mouth on a daily basis. I think that and the diary together could be helpful.

That's basically what I do, except I track in the my fitness pal app instead of a memo app. It's a good system.

I will check that out as well....I read through your diary...not the whole thing of course but the first posts and the last few posts...I kind of see how it works. It seems to be a way to basically interact with other people on the forum and in doing so I can see alot of support goes on there. Thanks again.
Is there a special forum page where one might post their weight at any given time? or is that done in the diary as well...or...at all?

It's kind of up to you. There are a few threads in other subforums that some people post weight in, but they aren't consistently active and sometimes it can feel like you're talking to yourself. Some folks post their weight in their diary and others don't. I usually do once a week because I like to be able to go back and look at where I was and what I was doing when I have success. It's a good way to track habits.

I am currently downloading Calorie Counter....we'll see how it goes.
Thanks again...I think this was a good idea on my part! Joining the forum I mean

By the way...my name is Dan...but you can call me Jack...OneEyedJack is a plastic skull under my desk. He wears a black hat that belonged to my late Uncle. It just kind of got put there while I was rearranging my office. Don't remember why I named him that...I just did.
