Hi

I am a 38 year old female who has joined the forum as I feel I need the support of others to lose more weight.

I am 5ft 3in and initially weighed in at 173 pounds. I have completely changed the way I eat. Introduced breakfast and snack on fruit during the day at work I also take in my own lunch so I can watch what I am eating. I have cut out all processed food and for desert I have low fat greek yoghurt with fruit. On top of all this I have even started walking and bike riding for exercise.

In the past 12 months I have lost and maintained a loss of 15lb, which is slow going compared to some I know but still a loss. I currently weigh in at 158 pounds.

However I have a guilty secret to share... I cannot stop myself craving something else to eat after the kids in bed. It's like my body telling me that I need a second desert, be it some chocolate or a cereal bar or some other tempting treat.

To get down to my target weight of 133 pounds I know I have to stop the night time treats, but for some reason I don't stop :(

I cannot understand why I am sabotaging my own weight loss and as a result have plateaued at 158 pounds for the past 6 weeks or so.

Anyway, I will be using this forum as a distraction method and a way to learn new methods of self control!

I look forward to being part of the community :)

Hey buddy!

If you're craving food late at night, maybe you could have snack a jacks? Thats I do. In the large ones there is something between 38-42 calories so thats not too bad. Or you could get some weight watchers snacks? The chocolate chip biscuits are quite nice and only 99 cals, oooo or, there are some rich tea biscuits (like an oblong shape) and there is 23calories in 1 biscuits which isn't bad going in comparison to some biscuits! So sometimes I let myself have 4 of those with a nice cup of tea.

If you've plateaued, just step up your exercise by a small amount. When I plateau, i'll do like 20 extra squats/crunches etc, and that tends to get things moving again :)

Well done on losing 15lb, thats awesome! Don't worry about slipping up, we all do it. You CAN do this! Good luck m'dear :)

Thanks for your kind words Stacey, I appreciate it :)

I forgot about the big Snack a Jacks, I have tried the little ones and I like them - tend to go for the savoury ones as my 'afters' at lunch time. Maybe I should try the sweet ones at night as that is what my body craves. I was shocking with my night time snacking - when I said I had chocolate I meant a whole share pack of malteasers - about 600 cals, or a family sized bar of chocolate - about 700 cals or something smaller x 4 to make it bigger :drooling:. The thing is I know it is wrong, the pack is gone in about 30 minutes and I am left with the guilt of knowing I just undid the hard work of the day.

However for the past two nights I have not snacked at all - yay Go Me! Although I am off work today so did treat myself to a packet of mint poppets - 170 cals so a vast improvement on previous treats.

Going to the big A tomorrow (Asda) for my weekly shop, I will get some of the sweet snack a jacks for in the week. Hopefully they will do the trick as this time I really want to lose the weight. This site has been such an insipration - I love reading the posts and how people are doing and the before and after pictures on the forum.... well I was speechless, everyone looked freaking amazing.

Had some carrot and radishes earlier instead of fruit as I am sure that I was eating too much fruit, I was having way over 5 pieces of fruit a day - closer to 9

I will start that tomorrow, thanks for the tip. Hopefully seeing it in writing I will be a bit more accountable for what I eat.

On the plus side I did lose just over 2lb this week so I was very happy with the scales this morning. :biggrinjester:

:) I totally know where you are with the night time snacks! It was the hardest habbit for me to shake. All my previous attempts at dieting, I would still eat cereal (at the very least) before bed. It was like a ritual, watching a tv programme I loved every night whilst munching on cake. It felt like to enjoy time to myself, I needed to have something naughty in my hands. I still do eat sweet stuff at night, only now its fruit! Peaches and plums, juicy pears, strawberries, kiwis etc... Find your favourite fruit (mine is fresh pineapple, but it burns my lips), and snack on that! I really hope I'm not sounding patronising  You are doing well! I would love to see you start a food diary too x

Hello :waving:

I have been a good girl... honest! Me and Snack a Jacks are 'on a break'. I have a light Alpen bar for my treat with my evening cuppa at the moment. That has a piddly 70 calories and tastes okay, but I will probably try and find something different at Asda on the weekend, I want to keep snacks low fat and not get bored of them.

I have not been well for the past few days... Sunday I had a stomach upset - is it wrong to be slightly happy that if you can almost shit through the eye of a needle? ...... there is no way your body is hanging on to calories that day..... sorry TMI there!

And today my front crown has loosened - damn apples! So I need to go to the dentist to get that fixed tomorrow. Have had to eat so carefully today so it did not fall out - that would not be an attractive look :smilielol5:
