Hi,

I'm Holly, I'm 21 and I'm always at odds with my body!

I weighed 210 when I was 17 and have lost and gained and lost again. Currently I'm 172, although I was 158 before the holidays (eek!) so I'm back again and trying to do it as a permanent change this time round.

I'm a health care student and I want to be able to look after myself and my health in the same way that I will advise others to do in the future so I'm hoping to change my habits for the better but not sacrifice the things I enjoy to the point where I feel completely deprived, like I have the past.

I'm hoping to get my exercise routine back to 3-4 times a week because in the past I've found it has helped with my anxiety/stress levels immensely.

I've never seriously tried to gain muscle before though and this time round I would like to have the courage to go to the weights suite of my gym (it's on the second floor and is usually full up with big beefy males... scary).

So, yeah, that's the end of my rant. Look forward to reading posts from you all in future :)

congratulations on wanting to create change in your life. I'm sure the welcome wagon will roll on through here at any moment telling you to read the stickies, post often and feel free to ask any questions you might have.

Going into the free weights area (or meathead manor, as I call it) can be pretty intimidating, and at the same time, you'll have some people who will just about fall all over themselves to help you if you ask correctly, especially if they're on break. Mention things like correct form, compound exercises and the like.. like if you've at least done some research and not just flopping in saying 'oh I'm clueless and lazy, someone show me magic secrets'

That's funny, because I'm always at EVENS with my...God, that's not even close to being a good joke, is it? No, it's not. It's...well, it's awful. Ok, ok, let me start over...

That's funny, because I'm always...SIGH, I got nothing. I'm bone dry at the moment.

Anyway, welcome to the forum.
