Hello all iam 16 years of age, i weigh about 250 lbs .. and im only 5'7 I dont eat alot, just my family keeps buying pop thats all we drink sometimes i drink water when there isnt anything.. so i am here to ask for ways to break the chain of drinking pop 24/7 , and also to learn how to lose my "Man boobs", any suggestions would be great .

Welcome :D

There's a lot of good resources here, but the first step is to just make the decision to say no to the unhealthy habits. Try to just make a 2 week long commitment to not drink any soft drinks, and stay with water or other 0 calorie alternatives. Could always see if your folks would get some crystal light to stock the fridge or something similar. You'll probably drop a little weight, but more importantly I bet you'll just feel better too if you really drink as much coke as you say you do. I used to have the same problem. Once you start feeling better it's a lot easier to keep motivated :D

You could try doing what I do.

I get 4 empty 500ml bottles and fill them with tap water and put them in the fridge. Every day I know that I must drink my 4 bottles of water before I allow myself to have any pop.

It may not solve the problem - but it should mean that you drink a whole lot less of it than you have been.

You can always increase to 5 bottles or more as and when you acquire that level of control.

It would be worth encouraging your family to buy low calorie pop instead of the full strength stuff - as the calories can make a big difference for you all.

As far as the man boobs go - losing weight generally should help there. The fat disappears from all over your body and some should go from there. I suggest that you take up some form of exercise and try to eat as healthily as possible. Read the sections on exercise and nutrition - paying attention to the sticky threads.

In addition to what everyone else has said ... YOU have to make the decision to quit drinking pop. No one else can really help you with that because no one else controls what you put in your mouth but you. We can give you suggestions for things to help, but ultimately YOU have to decide that you're not going to drink pop and YOU have to select water over pop every time and YOU have to stick with that.

It all boils down to asking yourself, every time you pick up a drink - is it more important to me to drink this pop or more important to me to lose weight?
