Greetings all...a little about me, I am keeping it as short as possible.
I have been overweight since childhood due to poor nutrition and lack of physical activity. Went off to college in 2002, ate lots of pizza and drank lots of beer...results weren't good, hit my all time high of 215. I am only 5'5 so you can imagine how awful I looked and felt. In January of 2003 I met my husband and 2 years later I had my daughter. While I was pregnant I only gained 6lbs due to sickness and hung around the 210-215 mark. I had her in September of 2005 and with an extended stay in the hospital I went down to 195. With my family history of heart disease and dying young I decided to get my weight/nutrition on track so I can be around for my daughter as she grows up. I got my gym membership in August of 2006 and since then I have lost a measly 8lbs. Exercise is not a problem, I love it!! I run 9-12 miles a week and weight train. Its the food that is the issue.
I eat organic everything. The problem is that I still have a deep love for PIZZA...not good homade pizza but dripping with gooey cheese pizza. Also my husband is well, anti-healthy, so instead of having a good nutritious dinner(the only meal we eat together) I get to eat crap(I do substitute as much healthiness as I can but its still crap) because I don't have time to prepare 2 different main meals and I don't always like to eat what I give my daughter, she has a taste for things I don't. I feed my daughter how I would idealy like to eat, well balanced, nothing fried, no fast food, and no chips/french fries(even oven baked). I take a bucket of vitamins everyday to try to fill gaps. I am always on the lookout for light/healthy cooking books so if anyone has any suggestions let me know.
Also as just a tip, dropping high fructose corn syrup, trans fat and partially hydrogenated oils from your diet makes a big difference in how you feel and your energy level. I am going on 4 months without them.
Thanks for reading and have a lovely day
