hello everyone, glad to be here, i'm 19, 5'9 195Lbs and roughly 25% BF. I want to embark on a healthy lifestyle so last month i decided to quit smoking and get back into shape. For now my plan is to cut until winter, bulk up, and then cut come spring again, hopefully by next year this time i will be in the best shape of my life. From what I've read in the forums I should: eat 6 meals a day, with grains, fish, chicken, fruits, and veggies, I should get some cassein protein to take before bed, some whey protein to take after workouts, and a multivitamin and a fatty acids tablet to take daily. I should drink 1-2 gals of water daily, get at least 7-8 hours of sleep, and take at least 1 day off a week to recoop. My plan is to do aerobics 6 days a week alternating HIT with slower paced, and strength training work outs 3 days a week. My willpower isn't the greatest, but i think if i have this sites support and if i make myself a weekly schedule i will be able to accomplish these goals. If anyone has some motivational tips or stories even, opinions on the best brands to buy, what specific foods you ate(breakfast, lunch, dinner) to cut, or a workout plan that worked excellent for you, please let me know. Any tips are very much appreciated. Thanks guys and see you around.

Good luck and welcome to the boards bodycorp2006. Having a longer term target of improved fitness like that, may well help you get through the weight loss phase and hopefully to maintain good health post weight loss.

I would suggest that you also consider tracking your consumption of both calories and macronutrients. You can do that online at . Personally, I would also avoid spending too much money on supplements at this stage, but I would prefer to concentrate on learning how to chose, store, and prepare good food first. In this case - forget about brands, instead look for natural and wholesome stuff. An oat is an oat etc.

At some point you might want to rethink that cardio plan a little - it may work against your strength training goals, but for better advice try posting in the Harsh Truth section where 'those in the know' hang out. Don't forget to read the sticky ie. post your stats, goals, etc.

Your target is similar to mine when I started last year. I lost over 50 pounds first, and since then I've been concentrating on improving fitness and strength. But I'm 44 years old! I have no regrets, it really has been very worthwhile.
