Heavy

Hello, I'm new, too.

Generally I'm here because my weight has really ping-ponged over the past couple of years, but this year I'm at my heaviest-175 now. I'm trying to lose the weight for health (my parents both have type 2 diabetes) and because I've really been feeling low about my appearence lately. I Hate looking at pictures of myself, and it seems that when I send one to a new pen pal, I never hear from them again. I didn't think I was THAT scary. I'm very frustrated because part of me just wants to give in to being heavy, this is hard! Another part of me is really motivated, I'd like to be healthier. I have lost 10 pounds over the past two months walking. I'd like to keep this going, but need a little extra support and occasional kick in the tush. =-)

oh noes

hehe Sounds like they wanted to be more than your penpal! hahah :)

Good luck with your quest :)

Hi & welcome!!! Come start a diary in the diary thread so we can get to know you better!!!!!

Hi RofS, Welcome. If someone doesn't want to coorespond with you because of the way you look, you probably don't want them as a friend anyway. Start a diary and get to work!

understanding

Been there done that.I did succeed walking about 6 1/2 yrs ago but put back on my weight and some. Now it's even harder but I'm here to tell don't stop walking it makes a difference

Welcome to the forum. Don't ever give in to being overweight. It's not an acceptable lifestyle. We deserve to be happy and healthy. We owe ourselves that if nothing more. Support is always available here. Good luck to you on this journey.

Hi there!! Welcome to the forum. I hope you find that you get addicted to the support in this forum as much as I have!

Good luck!

Hi Rose you said both of you parents are type two diabetic...are you diabetic too? I am and it is a bitch trying to loose weight with any of the pills or insulin on the market for diabetic. I can't believe with all the technology we have out there they haven't come up with something better...I feel for you because I am fighting the same thing. It cracks me up to go to the doctors office and all they can say is run more and work out harder. I even had my doctor say try to get down to 1200 cals a day and my surgeon said that will be impossible for me to do because of the type of work I do...well I tried it anyway and ended up in the hospital for two week in a coma...so much for that idea..Mike...oh yea did I tell ya I don't se that quack no more either...lol

Hi Wishes...HVAC work which is a lot of heavy lifting/working in attic's and under houses. When installing a 2 to 5 ton unit it can be a hell of a work out when it's 90 and above.I was working at Mickey Dees on there rubber roof on a 25 ton unit when I dropped from insulin shock. Once your sugar level break 40 you ain't got to far to go, and it happens so fast you can't help it. I should have known better anyway. I feel for anyone who is diabetic because it is a 100% fight everyday unless you are bones...so feel lucky you can have some meat you have...it might not be as bad as you think:D I hate to tell ya something but it cracks me up to read what the women say in here about being fat, over weight they can't get guys ,there hubs cut them down or tease them...F- that. After 5 years or so the sex dies down a bit and then you are into each other. That is when all the real fun really starts. It is better to be compatible with your partner than all the other BS. These girls who kill themselves 24/7 to have the perfect hard body....who really gives a shit...it's what inside that really counts...yea you do feel better towards yourself...but remember god made you that way for a reason and I don't think it was to punish you either...Mike

well said :)
My husband is awesome, we get along because we are friends more than anything else. Hes fully supportive in the weight loss venture and does anything he can, but he still tells me he loves me either way (fat or skinny).

Moe...loving your spouse on the 'inside' doesn't make sex with a morbidly obese man enjoyable. And contrary to what people say....sex is an important part of a marriage, it's a time to bond with your spouse--if that can't happen or is unpleasant in any way it can't develop your relationship.

kaitie - That is soo true also :)
My husband is one of those weedy super skinny guys who eats junk food all day and lives on coke.
Hes changed his diet also recently lol

Thanks, guys!
My parents have type two diabetes, I do not, although my doctor tells me that with my family history, it's more of a "When" and not an "If" but how well I take care of myself will tell how serious or even age of onset. I'm all for making as long and healthy life as I can for myself.
