heavy drinker, just quit

hey everybody,
I'm brand new here. This subject has probably been touched on many times, but I think my situation is unique. I've been a heavy drinker for at least 2 years, and when I say heavy, I mean 6-7 nights a week, sometimes a 12pack + more just to myself. I know, that's severe, but it's the truth. I'm finally getting myself some much needed help, I'm gonna go see a doctor soon to see if I've done any permanent damage, etc... Basically, I'm cutting out drinking all together, and starting to exercise regularly. My question for you all is this: how much stored fat from my midsection should I/ could I/ shouldn't I expect to see start going away, simply from cutting out the beer and eating and sleeping well? Don't get me wrong, I am going to start exercising, but just hypothetically...
I'm hoping somebody here has a similar story or knows someone who has done what I'm doing.

Thanks for posting your story. I wish you the best.

I have had clients that drink regularly but it's mostly a couple glasses of wine with dinner every night.

Those clients once they started training have lost their belly fat rather quickly. Just remember to start off slow, make constant progress (baby steps) and try to lead a balanced lifestyle w/ diet and exercise.

If you're the type (like me) who's all or none, it may be difficult, but if you set short term measurable goals you will be on the road to success.
