Heartrate ??

Dont know which section this should go in .... hope it will get answered quickly here ... thanks

30yr old male ... 6ft ... 225lbs ... out of shape :( Riding mountain bike on the trails and have a heartrate monitor.

When Im pusing it out there Im sitting at 170-75...I maxed out at 180..and avg 162 for a 40 min ride. Bsacially when Im at 170-175 I can barley breath right and I feel like Im gonna puke on acct of my poor shape. Should I be making sure to stay in my target rates..I tihnk 135-156?

Are you trying to KILL yourself????

You say you are out of shape so your max heart rate is about 190, but you should be working out at about 55-70% of your max (105- 133). If you continue to ride you will be able to increase your heart rate to a healthy 161 without throwing up. 170-175 is way too high for where you are athletically right now.
