Healing with food

I am also vegan! I wish you luck! I'm new at starting my weight loss quest with this kind of online support.

Hi 113mon and Billy Shears thanks for the support :) I can't wait for the 150s! I'm so excited, my weigh in is tomorrow!

And good luck to you both! We can do this!! I was super skeptic about losing weight while on steroids, everyone said it was impossible, I hope this is a sign I can prove them wrong and encourage other people with similar problems to not give up before they even started.

@113mon: Have you been vegan for a long time?

The trip was great. The snacks were helpful because we didn't have lunch. I had no other choice but to eat regular pasta that has eggs in it. I was not happy about it but it was that or starving while watching others eat calamari. We were in a small town on the sea and the restaurants only offer fish, sea food and meat.

I have been battling cystic acne these last few years (I now believe that all these minor problems I had like cystic acne were caused by a severe hormonal imbalance which took years to diagnose and finally resolve), I got it under control but I always have a cyst or two around my mouth somewhere not to mention the scars left, emotional and physical.. I've tried everything.. And I mean everything. This diet actually cleared my skin so I had no cysts- NONE. At least until a few days ago. Now I'm trying to figure out what is the cause. I haven't changed anything and it's not that time of the month. Could it be overheated oil in my diet which I used about twice last week? I'm reading a book written by a lady who has MS and she follows a similar diet and she talks about listening to your body and how different foods she is not supposed to eat effect her the next day or two. It is an extreme case but I think she does make a point. If we are sensitive to something we eat everyday our body gets used to it and the ''reaction'' is not drastic, you may feel a bit tired, a pimple here or there, your skin is dry.. If you eliminate it so the situation improves and then add it back into your diet.. I guess the reaction could be more severe like these cysts I got around my mouth. Do you think it might be something behind this? They are so annoying and the worst thing is they hurt!!
:(

I am afraid what the scale will show tomorrow, I feel like I eat too much carbs! Fingers crossed!

I lost 10 pounds!!!! Oh my god!! This is really really really unbelievable! I never thought I would actually start losing all this weight! I am sooo happpy!
I think I can reward myself with something (not food)! I really do deserve it :)

10 pounds! That's amazing! I read a line somewhere that said you feel like you are eating too many carbs - girl you are hardly eating anything! I don't know how you do it - do you think you will be able to keep it up as a lifestyle change or are you just trying to lose weight quick? Just a question not trying to tell you to change.

Hey chubbygirl :)

I think I can eat like this for a long time. I really don't mind eating carbs, vegetables and fruit. I feel good and I rather have unlimited complex carbs than unlimited lean chicken. I've never been much of a meat eater or milk drinker. If I eat some eggs in a pastry made by my dear grandma I won't worry about it but if I can I avoid it.

This is a lifestyle change for me. This summer was the worst summer of my life and a true awakening. I am 22 years old and I could have died or at least gone blind if my doctors haven't finally figured it out. I won't go into details because I'm not here to make people feel sorry for me. Just understand it is not just some fad diet I wanted to try one Sunday morning. I am good now. And I don't blame anyone or anything for what happened.

Now that the most part is over I want to make sure I won't ever again lose control over my health. Food is what we eat every day, every few hours. If we eat poison, we get sick. If you begin to pay attention to what is inside your food, where it comes from and how it is prepared you realize, we eat stuff that isn't meant to be eaten.

I decided to ditch all animal products, part because I really wanted to see what will happen, part because I really love animals and after seeing some heartbreaking videos of animal abuse in the food industry and part because I really don't like meat and eggs. I mean really. Since I was little it grossed me out. I don't even know why I started eating them again but I think it was the low-carb thing. I wanted to lose weight so bad I started eating them again. I did initially but it came back quick and with a vengeance. I now know it was all hormone related since my prolactin was through the roof and I couldn't lose weight at all. If I really liked meat I would probably be eating some lean meat every now and then.

As for eating little.. It may look like I don't eat a lot but trust me I'm in no way starving :) It's true it takes some bullet proof will power to say no to every single thing you are offered but it's not that big of a deal if you have your priorities in order. If I was just dieting I would probably be eating more crap and having much more free-days. It's really about health. I don't want to re-live this summer ever again.

Even if everybody told me I am crazy and I should change how I eat I wouldn't because I feel good after a long time and I don't know if it's the food or the life changing experience or whatever.. Anyway why change something if it's working :)

b: orange juice, clementines
s: orange juice
l: spinach with herbs and tofu, vegetable soup
s: apple, pear and orange smoothie
d: corn meal with soy milk

Did my exercises and a really short short walk outside. My doctor is going to be mad at me for not working on my cardio :) And he can tell just by looking at me. I hate that :D
Got the tea mix I have to drink every day. It's nothing special and it's cold so warm tea is always good.
