Have you ever not ate?(starved!!)

Yep.... Not on purpose though.

When I was 15 I went through a really horrible breakup and stoped caring about everything. For 3 weeks I didn't even take my hair out the bun I'd left it in. I slept in my clothes and wore them to school many, many days and I hardly ate a thing! I lost about 15 pounds from that. After that, I thought that this was a good start and I was going to slim down. I got on the Atkins diet and got to my slimmest since starting High School- 170 pounds. Gained it all back shortly thereafter, I guess I got happy lol.

I personally have done fasts in the past so I can relate somewhat. What I couldn't deal with anymore is the complete lack of energy that is oftentimes accompanied by those kinds of weight loss spurts as barely eating for weeks.

Lately I have been reading on Macrobiotic diets. It seems that those people don't fast either as in not eating at all, but they do a fast that only contains brown rice and similar whole grains. This is especially suggested for people who are sick or have other conditions. It is seen as a time for the body to heal itself because brown rice is easy to digest but gives the essential nutrients one needs to live.
 
When I learned that husband (now ex) was having sex with the bimbo next door, I lost 30+ pounds in less than a month. I wasn't massively overweight to begin with...but when you do nothing but puke, losing weight is easy. I simply could not keep anything down...not even tranquilizers.
 
Back a couple years ago I had surgery to have my tonsils removed. It was so bad for me that I couldn't eat ice cream, no jello, I basically was living on water for almost two weeks straight. My estimate, less than 300 calories a day average consumed for 14 days.

In those two weeks, even in bed rest I lost like 25lbs. Granted I weighed more than I do now, but it was 25lbs in two weeks. But not just the scale changed. My clothes were all literally hanging off of me. They became far too big. I was secretly quite excited.

I thought well hey, I'll just start from here and get a head start on weight loss. However within a very short time period I gained it all back, and then a little more. Easy come easy go.

Any of you been there?

Edit: Just to make it clear, I don't condone starvation, I'm just sharing my experience (which couldn't really be helped, but still)

Exact same thing happened to me, I had my tonsils out in 2003 and lost about 28lbs in two weeks as all I could eat was mashed potato and gravy. I wasn't really too bothered at the time, was a bit peed off cos none of my clothes fit. ha! Everyone kept saying that I looked great etc etc but because I'd been ill I didn't see it that way and I didn't see myself as thin.

Of course all the weight piled back on as soon as I got back to my normal eating habits
 
I wasn't well last year and my lips were all sore and cracked and I couldn't eat anything other than milkshake, I lost over half a stone in a week, and I didn't move at all all week just lay in the same position. The first thign I did when I could eat again was get a takeaway though :p
