Hi, new here.

I'm 24, 6ft and 278lbs. Long story short, I've had quite a horrible past 3 years which saw me put on 4 stone. 3 weeks ago I finally decided to do something about it. It all seems to be going well, but I've read a lot on these forums etc and I'm worried if I'm doing it all a bit too quick.

I've lost 12lbs in 3 weeks. I've cut my diet back to 2000 calories a day and spend 45minutes a day in the swimming pool aswell as the standard 20minute walk to and from university. Is it normal for someone with as much weight as myself to lose 12lbs in such a short time frame. To be perfectly honest, my diet was never really the issue it was more the beer and drunken munchies which were getting me bad.

Any advice is welcome. Cheers.

Ok, but I'm led to believe that the first month of weight loss is often the quickest for someone who has a lot to lose, is this true or just a myth?

I think the first month is always the quickest for anyone dieting, partially as your body is not used to it and partly because you lose a lot of water weight!!

I started at 196 pounds on 1500 a day. First week I lose 5.5 pounds second 3 and them since then normally 2 per week.

My sister did ww when she was about the same weight (though a lot lot shorter than me) and lost 9 pounds the first week!!!!

It soon slows down!

Thanks guys. Hopefully the next 'Wednesday Weigh In' (yes, that's what I call it) isn't so drastic on the scales. I'm all for weight loss but I want it to stay off!
