Hello everybody,

I hope this message finds all of you well. I am new and happy to be here! I have found some very helpful information and hope to start writing my journal pretty soon.

I have tried so many diets it's not even funny but I now understand that this is more about being conscious on what you eat and keeping it healthy. Regarding exercise, I like running I just don't like to do it by myself. I generally don't have anything against exercise but it takes a lot for me to get up and actually do it. Anyway, things I have to work on but I'm excited on this new beginning as I really wish to see results.

Just a preview of what my day has been like - so I can keep it real: I had two breakfast tacos (I think I could have been fine with just one) and I had some vietnamese food for lunch. It was rice and chicken with water. I'm trying to drink more water and stay away from bread. In my house that's all they know and it's definately not helping!!!!!!! I get out of work around 5:30 so hopefully by the time I make it home I will just have cereal.

My goal is to lose weight for health reasons and becuase I don't like the way I look. I currently don't have any illnesses but my parents and grand parents are diabetic. If I don't take care of myself, I will soon end up there.

Ok, that's it for now. I hope to meet some of you and get more motivation from stories in the forum. Bye.

?

Question.... in the diary section you can't see the orange button to post a new thread.... is anybody having the same problem? I would like to start a diary asap =[ Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Welcome! You’re right to take control of your health. Diabetes is no fun. Your approach to weight control is on the right track -- being aware of what you’re eating, getting exercise, and doing so in a healthy way. This site has many suggestions and offers much support.

To help with your low motivation to exercise, you could treat yourself to something non-food related after you exercise (use your favorite body wash or moisturizer for the shower after exercising, listen to a favorite song, etc.). Just make sure this treat is something you will only do after you exercise. After some time exercise will become a habit.

Best wishes in progressing with your weight loss.
