Hello Everyone!

I am here because I am trying to find a balance. I either eat too much and gain a lot of weight, or I start to starve myself and lose 8 pounds a week. Being so black and white is not working for me. I need to find a balance and I hope to do so here. When I lose 8 pounds a week, I end up putting the weight back on. Then I start eating and eating and gain more weight back. I am not TRYING to do this, its sort of part of my personality. Very black and white. I want to change this and just learn how to lose 1-2 pounds per week like is recommended. Glad to meet you all and I cannot wait to go on this journey with you all. If you have any tips let me know.

Well, let me start off by saying that it's a tremendously positive step that you've already taken by already identifying a problem you have (being so black and white). One of the keys to being healthy is to find a good balance. Not black, not white - but gray. And, as long as you can maintain that area of grayness, you'll be ok.

My advice about how to get to that gray area? Look through the sticky posts on the forum and read the information about how to eat properly, calorie counting, maintaining a proper diet, etc. And, look through the information on how to balance diet and exercise. When I first joined the forum, I found a lot of helpful information there and it helped me during my first weight loss journey in which I lost 60 lbs. Information is key - but you have to remember that it's only ONE of the keys.

To find those other keys, try reading through some of the members' journals on here and note some of their techniques, methods and tips. Not all of them will work (as everybody is different), but you might find some good tips and tricks by reading through other peoples' notes.

Good luck. And, if you ever need any help, the members here on this forum are always willing to lend a hand.
