Hello everyone. I'm new here, so I'll tell you a little bit about myself and my goals. My name is Cory. I'm a grad student studying aerospace engineering. I'm 23 years old, have two cats, and a wonderful supportive family. I am also overweight. I am a 5'6" female at 275 lbs and have been overweight/obese all of my life. Both of my parents and my brother are overweight as well, although my brother was able to lose a significant amount of weight for a while. I want to lose weight for myself, but also to try and inspire my family to help themselves as well. My father is beginning to see the effects of his prolonged obesity through joint issues, high blood pressure, and pre-diabetes. I don't want to be where he is in 30 years and I don't want for him to continue as he has.

My goal right now is to reach 165 pounds and then make adjustments from there if I feel I need to lose more weight. I am not subscribing to any of the crash diets or special programs. My main focus is to be healty and fit. I have cut sodas and junk foods out and have put myself at the typical 2000 calories the are recommended. I have also started exercising several times a week. I hope to get to the point where I can go 5 or 6 times a week. Right now I'm averaging 3 or 4. I am feeling hopeful and motivated and wanted to join this forum in the hopes of finding some other people who might help me keep that feeling when times get tough, which I know they will at some point.

Hello cory. So nice to see you here. I am daniel and i would love to help you over your goals. first of all, i would like you to follow a small tip which can be helpful to motivate you as well as your parents and brother. Paste up some diet charts on the wall which shows some diet plans. Then stock up your home with machines like traedmill and cycles. This will make your family think about their obesity everytime and sooner or later they would work on it to reduce it.

Daniel, I appreciate your tips and have actually already put up some nutrition charts to keep me on track. Unfortunately, I live in a two bedroom apartment with my brother and so do not have room for any exercise equipment. This has not been detrimental to me so far though. I have easy access to a gym through my university and have had no trouble making myself go.

Welcome! Im the same age as you so i thought i would sign in and say hello :) sounds like you have already made some great changes to your life.
Wishing you all the best!
