Im 25 years old, about 5'8" and sitting at around 200lbs last i checked. Im looking to drop about 30-40lbs
I've been going to the gym for about two months, three days a week (mon, wed, fri)
I dont really have a routine i just seem to... go and do it really. I just recently learned that apparently the elliptical machine is the lazy mans tredmill... So what ever calories i burn off of that, subtract 200 or so.
So my stats usually are:
Heart Rate: 160-170bpm (yeah thats high, im told to keep it lower)
Calories Burnt: 800-1000
When I go to the gym I usually just stick my arse on the elliptical or bike for an hour and a half, im told thats to much cardio. Im also told to incorperate weight lifting into that, although im unsure on how to do it, how much is to much? how much is to little? how many reps? or do i keep going untill it hurts?
Cause Im told apparently if im losing weight, then i should lift weights for repition or at least rep 12, 2 or 3 times, but if im gaining muscle i'd have to rep lower like say 7, 3 or more times with a higher weight.
Then im also told to take some protein shake in the morning to replace breakfast, then after the workout, and one at night... its all so confusing, i want to learn though and have a nicely toned body, it might take me a year or two but im willing to make the change.
Can i have some advice?... on proteins, when to take, what to take, how to incorperate weight lifting?
