Hello there, I'm new here.
Let's start off with a little bit of background shall we? I'm 18 years old and have been struggling with weight issues and body image since middle school. I've picked up these habits from my family, as a young one I was never really taught to eat healthy and thus me and my family are heavy.I find it especially hard to eat right considering most diets don't accommodate vegetarians. But I've been managing.
I've recently lost a fair amount of weight, I was 250 lbs at the beginning of December and now I'm 220 lbs. I'm on no special meal plan or diet. I just eat more sensible proportions and have discovered volleyball, skateboarding, and dance dance revolution. I'm generally trying to be a healthy person, eat right and occasionally do something active. My weakness is sweet desert type foods and fatty fast food. But I'm trying to cook more (trust me, when you see how much sugar goes into baking cookies, it kinda kills the appetite,) and just generally have more will power.
As for my future weight loss plans, I've got a special goal coming up. Summer's approaching fast, I'll be done with my studies in two weeks. I've got three months off and I really want to lose as much weight as I can manage to surprise that someone special, considering I probably won't be able to see them much over the break. I'm aiming in the area of 30 lbs, 10 a month. I know it's probably a bit unrealistic but I like to dream big.
I've decided to join an online community to keep myself motivated, provide support to others, and possibly make some new friends. Any advice, encouragement from fellow dieters or just words to say hello are always welcome and would be very much so appreciated.
Thanks, and I wish all the folks here good luck on their own weight loss journey.
