My name is Adam and I just recently discovered this place.
While I am a newcomer to here, I am no first timer to weight loss. I have been a fat body my whole life, constantly fighting my metabolism and lack of energy to exercise. Nutritionally speaking I've had bad habits instilled in me from my parents and it hasn't been the easiest of roads traveled.
In mid 2000 I was 18, 275lbs and I said enough was enough. I went on a very low calorie diet and stuck to it painfully so. I was consuming 1200 calories a day while doing moderate cardio 60mins 5 days a week. My nervous system was a wreck, my body was over worked, but man was that weight coming off. In only 4 months I had lost 70lbs and weighed 205.
I then did what it seems like all people who "crash" diet do, I went back to eating a "normal" amount. Of course, to me, normal still meant what I was eating when I weighed 275. I figured I see all these skinny people eating like crap and it must be because their metabolism is higher when they are skinner, boy was I wrong.
I regained all the weight in about a month in a half, and I didn't even notice it. It was like my brain turned off the fact that I was becoming a slob monster again. It wasn't until my nephew mentioned my "belly" and asked if I was pregnant that I realized what had happened. Like a ton of bricks smacking you in the face after going through a tornado. I had went through all that pain for nothing.
Fast forward to now, I've been in the same shape give or take 30-40lbs up or down over the years. I haven't put a serious effort into losing weight because I see everyone do less work then me and gain no weight. I finally realized that I can't judge myself against other people as everybodys body is different. So, starting today, I'm making a serious attempt of saving my life from an early death and diabetes.
I have a really simple plan that I will update in a diary I will start after this. Just wanted to give some back story on me and an introduction, sorry it's a novel.
