My name is Laura and I'm an American currently living in Fukuoka (southwest) as an English teacher. I am 5'4/163 cm and 134 lbs/61 kg and the lightest I've been since I started college. As goal weight approaches it's getting harder to stay focused so I'm here for the support, both giving and receiving.

I spent my first 2 years in Japan bouncing between 150-155 lbs and after one particularly gluttonous weekend of spring BBQ I realized it was getting out of control. I started eating smaller lunches and cutting out snacks and cooked at home more often. Eventually I started running for exercise - something I have ALWAYS hated and was always terrible at - as well as doing 30 minute Billy Blanks tae bo cardio exercise videos at home.

I dropped about 20 lbs/9 kg and here I am. I've gone from a size 10-12 to a size 6-8 and I even wore a bikini to the beach a couple times, but there is a lot of work needed. 23 years of never exercising my upper body = flabby arms and weak muscles. I'm looking to first reach my all-time post-puberty low weight of 128 lbs/58 kg and then see what's up. It's hard sometimes being in Japan where the "before" pictures in diet magazines are 110 lbs/50 kg and the "after" are under 90 lbs/41 kg. My skeletal structure (I can wear children's shoes and have very small wrists and ankles) suggests I should be under 120 lbs/54 kg.
