Green Tea, Hot or Cold?

Hello everyone!

I would like to know when is green tea more beneficial, when it is taken hot? or when taken cold?

Does tea intake temperature have significant effect on body weight loss programs?

I am thinking, when we drink liquids lower than body temperatures, this should mean calorie expenditures.

I'm still browsing on the forum topics to pick up some tips.

Don't buy into the whole green tea weight loss thing....its not true. I'm not saying green tea doesnt' have its benefits, but just as with acia berry...its more for antioxidants and such than weight loss.

As far as temperature goes....in theory, drinking something cold would cause your body to work a little harder to raise the temperature....however, by doing so you burn such a minute amt of calories that its really really not worth the trouble.

Green tea can have a high amount of caffiene in it depends on the tea bag though and equally coffee can have a high amount of caffiene in. Check this out with your doctor or a nurse if your worried. I'm not sure myself what effect caffiene can have on a unborn baby either way.

Green tea is more for antioxidants than weight loss. I tend to take my green tea hot to lukewarm. Sometimes cold.

i think i've read it somewhere that green tea is better when hot

but anyways, i like drinking it cold :)

remember that weight loss still depends on your eating habits

and not solely on what you drink :)

I agree in the most part, however most people don't see the benefits because they are only taking in weak concentrations.

The best way in my experience to take it is to put around 4 bags in 1 liter of boiling water let it sit for an hour then consume cold.

I do have research to back this up somewhere if I find it I will post :)

yes sir, may we see the research? thanks!

i drink matcha green tea cold as well cause it tastes better

but all i can say about green tea is it makes me sweat more and keeps me up for some more exercise

so i guess that helps in the weight loss?

hey, thought i should let you know about Matcha- its the whole tea leaf ground into a fine powder, dissolves in hot water so 1 cup (1/4 tsp)= 30 cups normal green tea!!! Tastes brilliant and all these clinical studeis show cancer prevention, energy, weight loss, antiaging!

I would say that the weight loss benefits of green tea (hot or cold) are so minimal that they can be ignored. This said the health benefits are there and since the high coffeine in green tea puts your metabolism in over drive it will help you indirect to lose weight. Just remember that caffeine has a tendency to dehydrate you. Yes I know some people say that it just feels this way since all the fluid you lose in the bathroom is the tea/coffee you take in but I say keep it save and make sure you drink enough water.

Green tea does help you to lose weight but the problem is you would have to drink about 10 cups a day to see the benefits of it. It certainly doesn't do nothing for weight loss. I drink it because I like it (hot by the way) and because I know that even though it is helping only a little, it still helps. I eat a lot of fat-burning things everyday in hopes that they will make a combined effort.

Green tea reduces cholesterol and triglycerides, provides antioxidants (which detox) and contain EGCG which boost your metabolism, green tea is not a weight loss miracle but comparatively it is one of the strongest fat-burning beverages in the world. It boils down to do you feel it is worth the time and money to add it to your daily diet regiment.
