Thanks for posting this, jp!

I've never actually worked in the health club industry, however, I can convince half the people that by chanting Rutabaga 666 times, they will obtain inner peace and tranquility.

Do you think I have a shot?

One taker is all I get? Guess there aren't too many trainers at this forum. I would take this one myself if I didn't already own a club. All the fun with none of the risk! And a great income to boot!

I'm already an Assistant PT Manager of a club and doing well, plus the current one will be done at summer, so I'll be moving up in position... and like BasketLady said, I don't think I'm willing to move from Minnesota to Memphis :p But if lived there, I'd totally would take that position :)

Don't be too quick to dismiss Memphis. It's quite a town, really. The position is the head fitness person, plus they are building out an extra 20K square feet of fitness center, dumping millions into new construction and equipment. The new director's job is to order the equipment and oversee that entire job. If you have experience, you could probably negotiate for a higher salary, plus, in Memphis, that's like making 3X the amount in MN. Cost of living is pretty low, and the neighborhoods are awesome. You could just do it for a year and use it as a springboard to a better position somewhere else. Just some thoughts. You should at the very least interview with them over the phone to see if it has any appeal to you at all.

I would love to take the job but I've never had experience managing a fitness facility; I've managed plenty of other places and right now I'm managing a classroom of high school students.
