goodbye fat, hello energy

:D Doingit4thekids, swimming is great isn't it! (once you get in the pool at least, i still hate the walk of shame haha) i prefer it to most other exercise just because my ankles and knees aren't great and swimming doesn't put too much pressure on them :)
not having any kids myself, i guess i have it fairly easy, i admire you for making an effort when you have such a busy life! :D well done! and chocolate is banned in my house, so it's a bit easier to deal with cravings :)

thanks ashy! :D i shall do just that!

forgot to add...
foodwise, i was pretty good last night - had my cous-cous salad and fruit, and a packet of sea salt 'skinny popcorn' which only had 115 cals and the nutrition info on the back looked alright, 0.7g of fat, which is less than crisps and it was really tastey :)
i've had a bowl of homemade meusli this afternoon and i'm taking in some pasta in tomato and basil sauce to work, with some dried fruit and nuts for a snack. hopefully tonight won't be as bad as last night!
i also walked home after work, 4 miles, took an hour and ten mins, so i've picked up the pace it seems. probably won't walk home tomorrow morning - my feet really hurt when i got home! perhaps a swim in the afternoon instead :)

AND ANOTHER POUND LOST! :D

Congrats on losing another pound! Way to go! :) And great job on the food. What goes into your couscous salad? Finally, 4 miles? That's beyond awesome. I don't remember the last time I did that. Seriously.. When did I do that last?

Have you ever had tortellini soup? I posted a link to the recipe on my page if you want to try it out. If you can't find it let me know and I'll post it here.

thank youuuuuuu ashy :D
my cous-cous salad is so simple :)
cous-cous (obviously), 1/2 a teaspoon of veg stock granules (i mix this with the dry cous-cous before adding the boiling water), then when it's done and cooled down, i fluff it with a fork and add peas, chopped spring onions, halved cherry tomatoes, chopped red pepper, a sqeeze of lemon juice, a drizzle of olive oil, and salt and pepper.
tis very yummy :)

OH MY GOSH! your tortellini soup looks AMAZING!! definitely going to try that out soon :D (i already have some tortellini - it's fate! haha) i can't believe i've never thought about putting pasta in soup - even with the basic minestrone i never really thought of it as pasta lol.

last night i had my pasta in tomato and basil sauce, and my dried fruit and nuts for snacking on - but i got SO hungry this morning and i had a big cheese mayo roll *GASPS!* not good. i'm going to swim it off later though and will lower my calorie limit for later - probably just have 1/2 a tin of soup and a green salad or something. i think my problem is that when i'm at work i get really dehydrated because it's so hot, so when i'm thirsty i confuse it with hunger (because i'm silly like that) and eat instead of drinking. so for my next shift, i'm going to take a big 2 litre bottle of water with me and drink constantly throughout the night so i don't get hungry.

work was pretty good last night. i was moved wards, and the ward i ended up on only had 11 patients so it was a fairly slow night. however, this morning, just before it was time for me to go, i had to deal with a patient who'd ripped his drip out, which wasn't nice. however i walked the 4 miles home again - my feet are officially killing me - so i managed to fit something in :)

Going good girl - congrats on losing that lb it's absolutely fantastic news. Keep it up and you'll be at your goal in no time x

Hi all. I'm approaching my loss with no calorie counting. I like you Nemo are starting to enjoy healthy foods. Whatever I eat, I like to make it myself so I know what goes into it. I've recently started eating fruit aswell. Thats a big thing for me. I used to eat a banana and that was it. I'm going to try a smoothie, (fruit/yoghurt and a tsp of homey) see if I like it. A good filler for me is boil up some fruit (you could use raw) add yoghurt and then top with oats. I make it up in individual pots to take to work.

I'm not a runner, dont like swimming either but I love walking. Would really like to find a walking diet buddy to help motivate me!!

thank you ski bunnie! :D

ahh northwest, i hear you :) i do love walking - especially in the morning when there's nobody around and the air is fresh, as it gets me in the mood and starts the day off really nicely :) do you have any walking targets? perhaps 4 miles a day or something? that'd be pretty cool to try and keep to. an hour set aside for walking each day. plus you can add some up-hill or power-walking, or do air-punches whilst you're going (again, good if nobody is around lol). what do you think?
loving the fruit, yoghurt and oats idea too - sounds niiiice :D

well, i was unable to actually wait until the evening to fall asleep yesterday - i was just far too tired, so yet again, i have been awake all night. i am going to try really hard to stay awake today though, as i don't want to be tired for my interview on wednesday (did i mention this before?)... i will be off to portsmouth (hopefully in a new dress) to see if the lovely people of queen alexandra hospital want to hire me. i reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaallly hope so!!! so keep your fingers crossed for me! :D

oh and about yesterday - i didn't go swimming :( but i did the walk home after work in the morning, so wasn't too bad. i had 300g of tomato and red pepper soup, with a couple of celery stalks to nibble on afterwards as i was still hungry. that's actually everything from yesterday, other than the cheese mayo roll i had at work that i shouldn't have had. today so far i've had a healthy-style fry-up cooked by my gorgeous bf :) ... 1 piece of toast topped with fried (with 1 cal fry-lite spray) cherry tomatoes, chopped onions and a few herbs, aaaaaand 1 poached egg, some home-made baked beans, 1 veggie sausgae and a whole load of wonderful baby button mushrooms :D i have no idea how many calories in that, but i'm betting nowhere near as many as in a cafe fry-up! oh and i had 2 cups of black coffee, which i'm pretty sure only has about 19 calories per cup.

no pounds dropped today, as far as i'm aware. i really should get a digital scale instead of a silly manual one!

agh, so yesterday i had way too much food. i can't even remember everything, but it was a total binge :(

today - 1 piece of toast and some grape juice so far, and i'm off out for a walk now.

Do you normally record your food intake? That might be a way to either prevent (some) binges (if you have to write down everything you have to think about it a little more than usual and therefore some of the food might not go into your mouth) or assess the level of damage you've done and what if anything you can do to make up for it (if you're over by 2000 calories, say, cut 100 calories a day for 20 days- something small).

Also, do you know why you binged? If you know what it is you were craving or the trigger that caused the binge, you can take preventative measures (eg. if you were craving pizza, make a low cal pizza and incorporate it into your normal diet, stem the craving) so that doesn't happen.

i do normally write down what i'm eating, but i was really busy on monday with travel and sorting things out, so it was hard to keep track of everything :( i managed to note down everything yesterday after thinking about it, and it amounted to (roughly) 3200 calories! i hate set-backs, they're so annoying! i need more control. if i have other things to think about i always over-eat, need to crack the whip a bit and change. i wasn't really craving anything in particular (except a cigarette - 3 weeks since i had my last one - tis very tough!) but i just sort of picked at food throughout the day, including my grandma's birthday cake, which i shouldn't have touched, it was so sugary with icing on top and in the middle.
i like the low-cal option adding it in if i'm craving something :) thanks amy!

today i've had 1 poached egg on toast and a glass of apple juice
i have my interview today, so i need to keep my energy up.
i've made a packed lunch of pasta salad (with courgettes, cherry tomatos, spring onions and mushrooms), a banana, activia yoghurt and a bottle of water.
and when i get home i'm having rice noodle soup (with pak choy, mushrooms, spring onions and sweetcorn) for dinner.
plus there'll be a lot of walking around today, as i have a tour of the labs before my interview, and i'll be walking to the hospital from the station and visa versa when i come home, which is 2 miles each way, and i am going swimming with james this evening.
