Good vs Bad Calories

Just a quick question to anyone who might know;
I have reduced my calorie intake but i wanted to know if there is such thing as good vs bad calories. I want to make sure that my weight loss is successful. I have the hardest time getting rid of my sodas so I have switched to Coke Zero knowing that it has no calories but comes loaded with sodium. I eat the 100 calorie packs as snacks as well. I guess my question is, if I am taking in less calories but most of the things I eat have higher sodium, will I still loose the weight? Any advice would be great.

A calorie is a calorie, regardless. It can be nothing else.

A nutrient is not a nutrient, however.

To add, since that was terribly unhelpful, lol.....

If you have two diets, each comprised of different types of foods (nutrients)..... Diet A is comprised of chicken and broccoli and Diet B is comprised of soda and candy canes..... yet, calories are identical in each.....

Chances are pretty great that Diet A will have a better net result in terms of health AND physique.

100 calorie packs are great, except for the fact that I saw a report on the news about them, its a marketing gig, the large packages are sometimes 400% less expensive, if you think you have the wilpower to only eat some of out the big box its a better deal. but right now I rather the packs. also if you notice they have like no vitamins. :(

I would say rather than eating something out of a box which was formed by a machine, have an apple or pear, or some other whole food. Katfish was right, most "snack packs" have little vitamins and are highly refined.

hmm..sounds like you could make your own little packs with zip lock bags for much less money.

I agree i dont waste time of the coke zero and snack packs.

if i want a snack 5-7 crackers come out of the box and i put it away, there's my own 100 or less snack pack :).

And yes the water IS hard. I drink water all day everyday, at least 5 20oz bottles. I Havent' yet, but i wanted a soda, i'd had 8oz or 4 oz of one. there, a little treat so i dont drive myself soda crazy. In life you have to scarifice somethings to reach your goal.

Like if my goal was to save 5,000 dollars to buy a big screen tv, i might have to go without internet and high priced cable for a while. It's what you will commit yourself to cut out of your life to reach your goal. Which do you want more? less weight or soda everyday? You can do it.. stay positive and treat yourself to a small portion of what you want once in a while.. soon your body will stop asking for it and start loving what you are putting in it! :)
